Klastline Formation
The Klastline Formation is a stratigraphic unit of Pleistocene age in northwestern British Columbia, Canada. Description The Klastline Formation is part of the Mount Edziza volcanic complex. This is the second largest eruptive centre in the Northern Cordilleran Volcanic Province, attaining a volume of and an area of . It consists of shield volcanoes, stratovolcanoes, cinder cones and lava domes that have formed in the last 12 million years. The Klastline Formation was emplaced during the fourth magmatic cycle of the Mount Edziza volcanic complex. It consists of volcanic rocks that were issued from at least three eruptive centres on the northern and eastern sides of the Mount Edziza volcanic complex which produced minor lava fountains and small pyroclastic cones. Lava of the Klastline Formation temporarily blocked streams adjacent to the volcanic complex which resulted in the creation of lava dammed lakes. Kakiddi Creek
Kakiddi Creek is a tributary of the Klastline River in northwest part of the province of British Columbia, Canada. It flows north about through two lakes in a broad hummocky lowland to join the Klastline River, which in turn is a tributary of the Stikine River. Kakiddi Creek forms the northeastern boundary of Mount Edziza Provincial Park which lies within the traditional territory of the Tahltan people. In geology, interbedding occurs when beds (layers of rock) of a particular lithology lie between or alternate with beds of a different lithology. For example, sedimentary rocks may be interbedded if there were sea level variations in their sedimentary depositional environment. Alkali Basalt
Alkali basalt or alkali olivine basalt is a dark-colored, porphyritic volcanic rock usually found in oceanic and continental areas associated with volcanic activity, such as oceanic islands, continental rifts and volcanic fields. In volcanology, a lava dome is a circular mound-shaped protrusion resulting from the slow extrusion of viscous lava from a volcano.
