Klaartje Quirijns
Klaartje Quirijns (born 1967 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch film and television director and producer. In The Netherlands she worked as a documentary director and producer for the public stations VPRO, IKON and NPS. Internationally, Quirijns got recognition for her documentaries ''The Brooklyn Connection'' (2005), ''The Dictator Hunter'' (2007), with Souleymane Guengueng and ''Peace vs. Justice'' (2011), a documentary about the Lord's Resistance Army and Anton Corbijn Inside Out (2012). While pursuing independent documentary projects, Quirijns continues to work as a correspondent for Dutch national radio and television. Early life and career Quirijns was based in New York City between 1997 and 2007, Quirijns lives with her family in London, United Kingdom. In 2013, Quirijns began to direct fiction films. The Netherlands Film Festival ( nl, Nederlands Film Festival) is an annual film festival, held in September and October of each year in the city of Utrecht. During the ten-day festival, Dutch film productions and co-productions are exhibited. FilmAffinity is a movie recommendations website created in 2002 in Madrid, Spain by the film critic Pablo Kurt Verdú Schumann and the programmer Daniel Nicolás. As of 2016, the site listed 125,000 movies and series and had 556,000 reviews written by its users. Registered users can rate movies, find recommended films based on their personal ratings, create any kind of movie lists and — in the Spanish version — write reviews. International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam. Over a period of twelve days, it has screened more than 300 films and sold more than 250,000 tickets. Visitors to the festival have increased from 65,000 in 2000 to 285,000 in 2018. The festival is an independent, international meeting place for audiences and professionals to see a diverse (in form, content, and cultural background) program of high-quality documentaries. IDFA selects creative and accessible documentaries, which offer new insights into society. Gerbrand Bakker (novelist)
Gerbrand Bakker (born 28 April 1962) is a Dutch writer. He won the International Dublin Literary Award for '' The Twin'', the English translation of his novel ''Boven is het stil'', and the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize for '' The Detour'', the English translation of his novel ''De omweg''. Biography Bakker is a gardener by trade, having acquired his gardening license in 2006. He says writing and gardening are compatible. Bakker works as a skating instructor in winters. Hissène Habré (Arabic: ''Ḥusaīn Ḥabrī'', Chadian Arabic: ; ; 13 August 1942 – 24 August 2021), also spelled Hissen Habré, was a Chadian politician and convicted war criminal who served as the 5th president of Chad from 1982 until he was deposed in 1990. A member of Chad's northern population, Habré joined FROLINAT rebels in the first Chadian Civil War against the southern-dominated Chadian government.
