Wilson Kiprop (born 14 April 1987 in Soi, Uasin Gishu District) is a Kenyan long-distance runner, who specialises in the 10,000 metres and half marathon. He was the world champion at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 2010 and was the 10,000 m gold medalist at the 2010 African Championships in Athletics. Biography He started competing at the top level in 2008, winning competitions in Italy (cross and road races) and working under two Italian coaches, Renato Canova and Gabriele Nicola. He was the 2008 champion at the Cross della Vallagarina and the Corrida di San Geminiano. Robert Kiprop Koech (born 25 February 1997) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He was the gold medalist in the 5000 m at the 2019 African Games. Biography Kiprop is from the city of Iten in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Kenya. On 22 June 2019, Kiprop had a breakthrough to win the Kenyan African Games trials 5000 m in a time of 13:37.1. Despite winning the trials, Kiprop was initially excluded from the Kenyan African Games squad for not meeting the 13:30.00 national standard, but an exception was later made to include him. He would go on to win the championships in a time of 13:30.96, leading a Kenyan sweep of the medals in the event. Kiprop went on to finish second at the 2019 Kenyan World Championship trials, but he was not selected for the Kenyan team. After a lull from 2020 to 2022, in late 2022 Kiprop had a resurgence in winning the 2022 Bangsaen10 road race. Boniface Toroitich Kiprop (born 12 October 1985) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. Personal life His older brother Martin Toroitich is also a runner, who has featured at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Boniface Kiprop is coached by Giuseppe Giambrone. Career At the 2001 African Junior Championships in Mauritius, he competed in the 5000 and 10000 metres, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Two years later the championships were held in Cameroon, and he won both events. At the 2003 All-Africa Games he finished 4th in 10000 metres and 6th in 5000 metres. The History of the Kalenjin people, Kalenjin is a group of tribes indigenous to East Africa, residing mainly in what was formerly the Rift Valley Province in Kenya and the eastern slopes of Mount Elgon in Uganda.
