Kinta District
The Kinta District is a Districts of Malaysia, district in Perak, Malaysia. It contains the state capital Ipoh. Kinta is the most populated district in Perak and also the seventh most populated district in Malaysia. Kinta houses Ipoh, Perak's largest city and state capital while Batu Gajah is a seat in Kinta district. History Kinta District was once famous for its tin, being one of the major tin producers in the 18th century. The discovery of substantial tin deposits in the Kinta Valley attracted a diverse influx of immigrants, particularly from China, who sought their fortunes in the lucrative mining trade. A Malayan Railways, railway line linking Ipoh and other town in Kinta such as Pusing, Papan, Siputeh and Tronoh was completed in 1909 and used to transport tin ore. The tracks were dismantled by the Japanese during World War II and were never rebuilt. Shortly after the war ended, the tin industry deteriorated in Kinta. Teronoh
Teronoh (or Tronoh, Ternoh) ( Jawi: ترونوه; ; Tamil: துரோனோ) is a small tin-mining town in Kinta District, Perak, Malaysia. The town was said to have been founded by the Minangkabau of Talu, a village located in present-day West Pasaman, Sumatra; the community erected a ''surau taruno'' in which young men would be expected to be housed there while starting their own families, which Tronoh would be named after. The tin-mining industry boom during the early 20th century saw Tronoh, a town believed to be old, grow from a small village into a major town. The mines in the area included Teronoh South Ltd., Tronoh Extended Ltd., Chung Thye Phin's Phin Tak Mine (also known as the Phin Tak Kongsi) and Chia Tek's Lee Yeoh Mine, all of which were acquired by Foo Choo Choon's Tronoh Mines Ltd. between 1912 and 1921. Chemor
Chemor ( Jawi: چيمور) is a main town in Kinta District, Perak, Malaysia. Geography Chemor is located in the Kinta River Valley. The region surrounding Chemor consists of limestone hills and cliffs, composed largely of alluvium deposited in the Paleozoic era. History 19th century Chemor was one of several towns in Kinta District which sprang up in the late 19th century to take advantage of the region's tin mining opportunities. Of these towns, it was the northernmost. The first attestation of the town's existence was in 1892, when a police station was opened in the then-village.
