Kinney Drugs
Kinney Drugs is a chain of approximately 100 drugstores and pharmacies throughout central and northern New York, as well as Vermont. Its headquarters are located in Gouverneur, New York. The company was founded in 1903 by Burt Orrin Kinney, a native of Gouverneur. The first drugstore was opened in Gouverneur, and the original store is still operating in the center of the village's business district. The company opened stores across the region, and in 1962 built a distribution center in Gouverneur. In 2008, Kinney Drugs became owned by its Employee Stock Option Plan and 401(k) plan. Gouverneur is a village in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 3,949 at the 2010 census. The village is named after Gouverneur Morris, one of the authors of the Constitution of the United States, as well as a prominent landowner and part-time resident of the area. Castleton is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. Castleton is about to the west of Rutland, the county's seat and most populous city, and about east of the New York/Vermont state border. The town had a population of 4,458 at the 2020 census.
