Regional Rail
Regional rail is a public transport, public rail transport service that operates between towns and cities. These trains operate with more stops than inter-city rail, and unlike commuter rail, operate beyond the limits of urban areas, connecting smaller cities and towns. In North America (e.g. the rail transportation in the United States, United States), "regional rail" is often used as a synonym for "commuter rail", often using "commuter rail" to refer to systems that primarily or only offer service during rush hour while using "regional rail" to refer to systems that offer all-day service. In rail transport in Europe, Europe, regional trains have their own train categories in Europe, category, often abbreviated to R (Regionalbahn, RB in rail transport in Germany, Germany) or L (for local train). Characteristics Regional rail provides services that link settlements to each other, unlike commuter rail which links locations within a singular urban area. Unlike inter-city servic ...

Älvsborg Line
The Älvsborg Line () is a railway line between Uddevalla and Borås in Sweden. The long crescent-shaped line connects to various lines, including the Bohus Line, the Norway/Vänern Line, the Kinnekulle Line, the Western Main Line, the Coast-to-Coast Line and the Viskadal Line. Västtrafik runs regional train service on the whole line, usually with X12 trains. Due to its bad standard and slow speed, few freight trains use this line and instead travel via Gothenburg and the Western Main line. Some freight trains are diverted to this line when the Western Main Line is closed for maintenance. The Älvsborg Line has 15 passenger stations: Uddevalla, Öxnered, Vänersborg, Vargön, Grästorp, Vara, Vedum, , Ljung, Torpåkra, Mollaryd, Borgstena, Fristad, Knalleland, Borås History The railway between Uddevalla and Herrljunga was opened in 1867 and between Borås and Herrljunga in 1863. Railway Lines In Sweden
Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport using wheeled vehicles running in tracks, which usually consist of two parallel steel rails. Rail transport is one of the two primary means of land transport, next to road transport. It is used for about 8% of passenger and freight transport globally, thanks to its energy efficiency and potentially high speed.Rolling stock on rails generally encounters lower frictional resistance than rubber-tyred road vehicles, allowing rail cars to be coupled into longer trains. Power is usually provided by diesel or electric locomotives. While railway transport is capital-intensive and less flexible than road transport, it can carry heavy loads of passengers and cargo with greater energy efficiency and safety. Precursors of railways driven by human or animal power have existed since antiquity, but modern rail transport began with the invention of the steam locomotive in the United Kingdom at the beginning of the 19th ...

Hallsberg
Hallsberg () is a bimunicipal locality and the seat of Hallsberg Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden with 7,122 inhabitants in 2010. It is also partly located in Kumla Municipality. Overview This settlement grew up around a railway junction, and is these days primarily known as a place where you have to change trains. The railway station is oversized for the town's own needs. Hallsberg was declared a ''municipalsamhälle'' (a type of borough within its municipality) in 1883 and got the title of a market town (köping) in 1908. Since 1971 it is instead the seat of the enlarged Hallsberg Municipality. Hallsberg is famous for its huge classification yard and for the large Hallsberg railway station. The reason for this is that railways (from practically all cardinal directions) to and from Stockholm, Gothenburg, Mjölby, Örebro and Karlstad join here. Among the more important is the Västra stambanan ("western main line"). As the railways were built, Hallsberg grew up aroun ...
