Kinky Music
''Kinky Music'' is a studio album by the Larry Page Orchestra, released on 18 June 1965 by Decca Records. The album consists of orchestral middle of the road or easy listening arrangements of compositions by Ray Davies, principal songwriter of the English rock band the Kinks, whom Larry Page then managed. The album fit in a trend of orchestral arrangements of popular British rock acts, like George Martin's 1964 album '' Off the Beatle Track''. Davies did not participate in any aspect of the album's creation, nor did any of the Kinks perform on it. The recordings instead featured then prodigious session musicians, like Jimmy Page, Big Jim Sullivan and John Paul Jones. Page considered the work a marketing exercise to introduce Davies' melodic talent to a wider audience, but the album sold poorly. Leonard Davies (9 November 1936 – 19 April 2024), known professionally as Larry Page, was an English pop singer and record producer, primarily from the late 1950s until the early 1970s and briefly in the 1990s. Biography Leonard Davies was born in Hayes, Hillingdon, Middlesex in 1936. After changing his name to Larry Page, in honour of Larry Parks, the star of '' The Jolson Story'' (1946), the teenager began a recording career as a singer. Page tried to magnify his fame through the wearing of unusually large spectacles, as "Larry Page the Teenage Rage". The title was originally coined by Jack Bentley, the showbusiness correspondent from '' The Sunday Pictorial''. John Paul Jones (musician)
John Paul Jones (born John Baldwin; 3 January 1946) is an English musician and record producer who was the bassist and keyboardist for the rock band Led Zeppelin. He was a session musician and Arrangement, arranger when he formed the band with Jimmy Page in 1968. Jones developed a solo career after drummer John Bonham died and Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980. He has collaborated with musicians in a variety of genres, including the Supergroup (music), supergroup Them Crooked Vultures with Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Alain Johannes. "Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy" is a song by Ray Davies, released as a UK single by the Kinks in 1965. As the follow-up to the number-one hit " Tired of Waiting for You", and having their previous three singles all chart among the top two, it was less successful, reaching number 17. It broke a run of what would have been twelve consecutive top-ten singles in the UK during the period 1964–1968. David Russell Gordon Davies ( '; born 3 February 1947) is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for the English rock band the Kinks, led by his older brother (and principal writer and singer) Ray, and the both of them were the only consistent members during their existence. Davies also sometimes undertook writing and/or lead vocals duties within the band, for example on songs such as " Death of a Clown", " Party Line", "Strangers" and "Rats". He has also embarked on a solo career, releasing several singles during the late 1960s and has since released eight solo albums.
