''King Thrushbeard'' (, ) is a 1984 Czechoslovakian film based on an adaptation of the Grimm Brothers fairy-tale ''Red Beard''. Plot A fairy-tale about a beautiful but very haughty princess Anna who cruelly mocks each of her suitors. Finally, she is forced by the king to marry a beggar. The poor life, hard work, and love teach the princess a lesson and turn her into a loving and kind person. Grimm Brothers
The Brothers Grimm ( or ), Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm (1786–1859), were German academics who together collected and published folklore. The brothers are among the best-known storytellers of folktales, popularizing stories such as " Cinderella" ("), "The Frog Prince" (""), " Hansel and Gretel" ("), " Town Musicians of Bremen" (""), " Little Red Riding Hood" (""), " Rapunzel", "Rumpelstiltskin" (""), "Sleeping Beauty" (""), and " Snow White" (""). "King Thrushbeard" () or the haughty princess (German: ''die hochmütige Prinzessin'') is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm (KHM 52). It is of Aarne–Thompson type 900. Origin The tale was published by the Brothers Grimm in the first edition of ''Grimms' Fairy Tales, Kinder- und Hausmärchen'' in 1812, and slightly modified in the second edition issued in 1819. Their sources were the Marie Hassenpflug, Hassenpflug family from Hanau, supplemented by Ludowine Haxthausen and by Wilhelm Grimm's friend and future wife, :de:Wild (Familie), Dorothea Wild. Marián Labuda
Marián Labuda (28 October 1944 – 5 January 2018) was a Slovak actor. He was born in Hontianske Nemce. In 1964, he graduated from the ''Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava'' (VŠMU). He became a member of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) in Bratislava. In 1967, he moved to the theatre ''Divadlo na Korze'' in the same city. Following its closure in 1971 he joined ''Nová scéna'' in Bratislava. In 1990, he returned to SND. He portrayed more than a hundred characters on stage. He also regularly appeared in both Slovak and Czech films. As a singer, he recorded the album Silvester 68 with several well-known personalities in Slovakia. The song "Pichni" from the album was written and sung by himself. Labuda died in Bratislava on 5 January 2018, aged 73. Bronislav Poloczek (; 7 August 1939 – 16 March 2012) was a Polish-Czech theatre and television actor. Poloczek was born in Horní Suchá (Sucha Górna). He was best known for his appearances with the Prague National Theatre. He also appeared in various Czech television series, including '' Ulice'' and '' Hospoda''; and many films, including '' Černí baroni''. In 2012, he died in Prague, aged 72.
