King Animal Demos
''King Animal Demos'' is a 10" vinyl EP by the American rock band Soundgarden. It was released on April 20, 2013 through Republic Records. It was released on Record Store Day on a special edition pink vinyl release in the United States, and a standard black edition in Europe. Overview The EP is a collection of demos from ''King Animal''. It features six different songs, in their rough mix. The demos were recorded at TNC Studios in Los Angeles and Deke River Studio in Seattle. Soundgarden
Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil (both of whom are the only members to appear in every incarnation of the band), and bassist Hiro Yamamoto; Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985, replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist, and later by Matt Cameron in 1986. Yamamoto left in 1990 and was replaced initially by Jason Everman and shortly thereafter by Ben Shepherd. The band dissolved in 1997 and re-formed in 2010. Following Cornell's death in 2017 and a year of uncertainty regarding the band's future, Thayil declared in October 2018 that Soundgarden had disbanded once again, though they did reunite in January 2019 for a one-off concert in tribute to Cornell. "By Crooked Steps" is a song by American rock band Soundgarden. It is the second single from their album, '' King Animal''. The song premiered on television November 27, 2012, on ''Jimmy Kimmel Live!''. It reached number 1 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. Music video The music video for "By Crooked Steps" was directed by Dave Grohl. The video depicts Soundgarden as a motorcycle gang who rides Segways. Midway through the video, the band is shown shutting off an electronic music DJ's laptop, then taking over the stage and playing a show. The DJ proceeds to call the cops, and then the band flees the stage and rides again on the Segways with police in pursuit, ending with the band being arrested. One of the police officers who was arresting the band was played by electronic music artist Deadmau5. ''Rolling Stone'' referred to Soundgarden in the video as "badass." Kim Thayil
Kim Anand Thayil (born September 4, 1960) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist of the Seattle-based rock band Soundgarden, which he co-founded with singer Chris Cornell and bassist Hiro Yamamoto in 1984. Cornell and Thayil remained as the original members of the band until Cornell's death in 2017, and the band's subsequent split in 2018. Thayil was named the 100th greatest guitarist of all time by ''Rolling Stone'' in 2010, and the 67th greatest guitarist of all time by SPIN in 2012. Hunter Benedict Shepherd (born September 20, 1968) is an American musician, best known as the bassist of the rock band Soundgarden from 1990 to 2019. Shepherd has won two Grammy Awards as a member of Soundgarden. Early life Shepherd was born in an American military base in Okinawa. His father worked in the Nike missile program and played the guitar. His family moved to Allen, Texas, then settled in Kingston, Washington, where Shepherd grew up. Shepherd became interested in music after listening to Johnny Cash on television. Matt Cameron
Matthew David Cameron (born November 28, 1962) is an American musician who is the drummer for the rock band Pearl Jam. He first gained fame as the drummer for Seattle-based rock band Soundgarden, which he joined in 1986. He appeared on each of the band's studio albums until its break-up in 1997. In 1998, Cameron was invited to join Pearl Jam's U.S. Yield Tour and then became a permanent member of the band. ''King Animal'' is the sixth and final studio album by American rock band Soundgarden—their first in sixteen years. Produced by both the band and Adam Kasper, it was released on November 13, 2012, by Seven Four Entertainment and Republic Records in the United States, and by Vertigo Records in the rest of the world.
