Kindiependent
The Kindiependent Collective is an American collective of children's music performers and supporters based in Seattle, Washington, who collaborate on recordings, performances and music business related projects. The collective is composed of Recess Monkey, Caspar Babypants, The Not-Its!, The Harmonica Pocket, Johnny Bregar, The Board of Education and Brian Vogan and His Good Buddies. Group performances Kindiependent organizes several music series shows across the Seattle area including the Kids Rock Series at the Mount Baker Community Club. In collaboration with the Northwest Folklife Festival, they showcase a daylong collection of family music performances each Memorial Day. Music collaborations Members of the Kindiependent Collective sometimes assemble to create collaborative music in mixed up pairings. Recess Monkey
Recess Monkey is a Seattle-based trio of current and former elementary school teachers who have made music for kids and families since their debut album ''Welcome to Monkey Town'' in 2005. They have since released 14 albums for family audiences. They perform live concerts throughout the United States with an emphasis on audience participation, dancing, and a focus on the entire family. History The band's original members, Drew Holloway (lead vocals, guitar), Jack Forman (bass, vocals) and Daron Henry (drums) met as colleagues at Seattle's University Child Development School. They originally performed adult-focused independent rock as The Waiting Room but soon experimented with combining their indie-rock music with childhood themes. Drummer Henry was replaced in late 2012 by Korum Bischoff (formerly of The Dead Science), who continues as the third member of the trio. Caspar Babypants
Caspar Babypants is the stage name of children's music artist Chris Ballew, who is also the vocalist and bassist of The Presidents of the United States of America. History Ballew's first brush with children's music came in 2002, when he recorded and donated an album of traditional children's songs to the nonprofit Program for Early Parent Support titled "PEPS Sing A Long!" Although that was a positive experience for him, he did not consider making music for families until he met his wife, collage artist Kate Endle. Her art inspired Ballew to consider making music that "sounded like her art looked" as he has said. Ballew began writing original songs and digging up nursery rhymes and folk songs in the public domain to interpret and make his own. Kids Place Live
Kids Place Live is a channel on Sirius XM Radio that is the result of a merger between XM Kids and Kids Stuff. Sirius was a result of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approving the acquisition of XM Satellite Radio Holding, Inc. by Sirius Satellite Radio, Inc. on July 29, 2008, 17 months after the companies first proposed the merger. Until February 9, 2010, DirecTV carried this on channel 868, but dropped Sirius XM programming in favor of going to MusicTap. The channel name was changed on 2008-11-12.
