Kim Forge (born 4 May 1971 in Crossfield, Alberta, Canada) is an Australian female curler originally from Canada. Originally from Alberta, Forge went to Australia at early 2000s on a teaching exchange program and never moved back to Canada. She has been the President of the Australian Curling Federation since 2015 and in 2016 was named to the World Curling Federation The World Curling Federation (WCF) is the world governing body for curling accreditation, with offices in Perth, Scotland. Crossfield, Alberta
Crossfield is a town in the Calgary Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Rocky View County. It is located on Highway 2A north of the City of Calgary. As a rail station on the Calgary to Edmonton (C&E) line of the Canadian Pacific Railway, Crossfield was founded in 1892. Crossfield was named after an engineer with the Canadian Pacific Railway survey crew. By 1904, the community had a post office, a general store, a hotel and a school. In 1906, the first grain elevator opened and Crossfield was incorporated as a village the following year in 1907. In 1980, Crossfield incorporated as a town. The Town of Crossfield is a member of the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board. Crossfield is within the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor and is growing as a result. World Curling Federation
The World Curling Federation (WCF) is the world governing body for curling accreditation, with offices in Perth, Scotland. It was formed out of the International Curling Federation (ICF), when the push for Olympic Winter Sport status was made. The name was changed in 1990. The ICF was initially formed in 1966 as a committee of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth after the success of the Scotch Cup series of world championships held between Canada and Scotland. At the outset, it comprised the associations of Scotland, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States. In the wake of its formation, it sanctioned the World Curling Championships. The WCF currently sanctions 15 international curling events (see below). The curling competition of the 2009 New Zealand Winter Games was held at the Maniototo Curling Rink in Naseby, New Zealand. Both the men's and women's competitions concluded on 29 August 2009. In the men's event Australia won gold after defeating China in the final, while in the women's event Japan won the gold, also beating China in the final. Overview The curling competition was held from 23 August to 29 August 2009 at the Maniototo Curling Rink in Naseby, New Zealand. It comprised a men's competition and a women's competition. Following the finals of both competitions an on-ice closing ceremony and medal presentation was held and then later an awards dinner.
