Kim Ahlroos
Kim Ahlroos (July 2, 1971) is a Finnish retired professional ice hockey winger who played in Finland and throughout Europe. Career Ahlroos began his career with hometown club HIFK, coming through the junior ranks before making his SM-liiga debut during the 1990–91 season. During this time, Ahlroos also spent time on loan at another Helsinki based club, Karhu-Kissat. After 4 years with HIFK, Karhu-Kissat and a short stint with Czech Extraliga side HC Stadion Hradec Kralove, Ahlroos moved to another SM-liiga outfit, the Turku-based TuTo Hockey for the 1995–6 season. TuTo would have a disappointing season, which saw them finish last in the standings and subsequently get relegated at the end of the season. Following this, Ahlroos moved to Hyvinkään Ahmat of the I-Divisioona for the 1996–97 season. He would return to the SM-liiga the following season, playing 42 games for KalPa. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Vezio Sacratini
Vezio Sacratini (born September 12, 1966 in Montreal, Quebec) is a retired Italian-Canadian professional ice hockey player who played for various teams across Europe, most notably the Cardiff Devils, and the Italian national team. Sacratini was a member of the Italian team that finished 9th in the 1994 Winter Olympics. Career NCAA Sacratini played collegiate hockey for the American International College in what was the ECAC East. Between 1987-1990 Sacratini amassed 49 goals and 114 assists for a total of 163 points in just 70 games. As of June 2017, Sacratini is tied for 4th on the Yellow Jackets all-time assists list and is tied for 9th on the schools all-time scoring list. Steve Thornton
Steve Thornton (born March 8, 1973) is a Canadian-born British former professional ice hockey player. He is currently the Director of Hockey Operations for the Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Career Thornton was born in Gloucester, Ontario. Apart from playing junior hockey with the Gloucester Rangers, college hockey with Boston University and one season in the International Hockey League with the Peoria Rivermen, Thornton's career has been played in Europe. British National League (1996–2005)
The British National League (BNL) was the second tier of the professional ice hockey league in the United Kingdom between 1996 and 2005. Although no formal promotion and relegation existed during its period of existence, it was considered to have been a standard below that of the Ice Hockey Superleague (later replaced by the Elite Ice Hockey League) and above that of the English National Ice Hockey League and the Scottish National League (ice hockey), Scottish National League (and later, following its creation, the English Premier Ice Hockey League). Suomi-sarja
The Suomi-sarja is Finland's third highest ice hockey league. Suomi-sarja has 14 teams. Suomi-sarja has been played since the 1999–2000 season. Prior to this, Finland's third league had been Division II since 1975 and before that the Provincial Series since 1947. During the 1990s the series also included an Estonian team. The series was played in two segments in the 2006–2007 season. During the 2007–2008 season there were four divisions. Teams playing in the Suomi-sarja can be relegated to the 2. Divisioona or promoted to Mestis. During the 2022–23 season, there are 13 teams. Jukka Pertti Juhani Jalonen (born 2 November 1962 in Riihimäki, Finland) is a Finland, Finnish professional ice hockey coach (sport), coach and former player. Ice Hockey Superleague
The British Ice Hockey Superleague (BISL, also known as the Sekonda Ice Hockey Superleague from 1998 to 1999 for sponsorship reasons) was a professional ice hockey league in the United Kingdom between 1996 and 2003. Devised in 1995, it replaced the premier division of the British Hockey League at the end of 1995–1996 season; following the major reshuffle of the league and the split between the first and second tier divisions; with the British National League becoming the new second tier division. Mikko Koivunoro (November 12, 1971) is a Finnish retired professional ice hockey centre who played in Finland and throughout Europe. Career Koivunoro began his professional career with Helsinki-based club Karhu-Kissat of the I-Divisioona in 1990. In 1992 he moved to his hometown club JoKP also of the I-Divisioona, helping the team win the league. Following two seasons in Joensuu, Koivunoro made his SM-liiga debut for Kiekko-Espoo in 1994. Koivunoro's rookie season in the top flight was moderately productive, tallying 17 points in 41 games, helping the team finish 7th in the league, before losing to Lukko in play-off quarterfinals.
