Killaloe is a coastal rural locality in the Shire of Douglas, Queensland, Australia. In the , Killaloe had a population of 116 people. Geography The south-eastern boundary of the locality are Packers Creek and the Dickson Inlet which lead to the Coral Sea, which forms the northern boundary of the locality. The Cassowary Range forms the south-western boundary of the locality. Numerous small creeks flow down from the range through the locality to the sea. The Captain Cook Highway and the cane tramway to the Mossman sugar mill pass through the locality from south-east to north-west. Most of the developed land occurs on either side of these transport routes and the predominant land use is the growing of sugarcane. The land closer to the coast is not developed. The Coral Sea () is a marginal sea of the South Pacific off the northeast coast of Australia, and classified as an interim Australian bioregion. The Coral Sea extends down the Australian northeast coast. Most of it is protected by the French Natural Park of the Coral Sea (french: Parc Naturel de la Mer de Corail) and the Australian Coral Sea Marine Park. Port Douglas is a coastal town and locality in the Shire of Douglas, Queensland, Australia, approximately 60 km north of Cairns. In the , Port Douglas had a population of 3,504 people. The town's population can often double, however, with the influx of tourists during the peak tourism season from May to September. The town is named in honour of a former Premier of Queensland, John Douglas. Port Douglas developed quickly based on the mining industry. Other parts of the area were established with timber cutting occurring in the area surrounding the Daintree River and with settlement starting to occur on lots around the Mossman River by 1880. Craiglie is a coastal rural locality in the Shire of Douglas, Queensland, Australia. In the , Craiglie had a population of 954 people. Geography Craiglie is bounded by the Cassowary Range to the southwest, Mowbray River to the southeast and the Coral Sea to the east. The Captain Cook Highway and the cane tramway to the Mossman sugar mill form part of its boundary with Port Douglas to the north. Historically, Craiglie provided the connection between Port Douglas and The Bump Track which crossed the range. Cassowary is a rural locality in the Shire of Douglas, Queensland, Australia. In the Cassowary had a population of 119 people. Geography The north-western part of the locality is low-lying coastal plains (10–20 metres about sea level) and is used for farming, predominantly sugarcane. The eastern and southern parts of the locality form part of the Cassowary Range, rising to unnamed peaks of about 350 metres, and are within the Mowbray National Park. The Mossman - Mount Molloy Road which winds up and down the Great Dividing Range forms the north-western boundary of the locality. The Captain Cook Highway forms a short northern boundary. The Captain Cook Highway is a short, regional highway in Queensland which originates in Cairns and terminates in Mossman, where it joins Mossman-Daintree Road, continuing to Daintree.
