Kilgrave
The Purple Man (Zebediah Killgrave) is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Joe Orlando, he first appeared in '' Daredevil'' #4 (October 1964). His body produces pheromones which allow him to verbally control the actions of others, and occasionally break the fourth wall for sinister effect. His stories typically involve him brainwashing other characters. Initially a recurring enemy of Daredevil, he later became the archenemy of Jessica Jones. A modified version of the character named Kevin Thompson/Kilgrave was portrayed by David Tennant in the television series ''Jessica Jones'' set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), for which Tennant received critical praise, and for which the character was included in ''Rolling Stone''s list of the "40 Greatest TV Villains of All Time" while IGN ranked him #79 of the "Top 100 Villains".
