Kilgoris Constituency
Kilgoris Constituency is an Constituencies of Kenya, electoral constituency in Narok County, Kenya. It is one of six constituencies in the county. It used to be the only constituency in the former Trans Mara District. The constituency was established for the 1997 elections. The constituency has 18 wards, all electing MCAs for the Narok County Assembly. The towns of Kilgoris, Emarti and Lolgorian are located in this constituency. The constituencies of Kenya are used to elect members of the National Assembly (Kenya), National Assembly, the lower chamber of the Parliament of Kenya, Kenyan Parliament. Narok County
Narok County is a county in southwestern Kenya with an estimated population of 1,157,873 according to 2019 Census. The dominant ethnic group is the Maasai. Its capital and largest town is Narok, with the only other major urban centre being Kilgoris. Narok County Government was formed by the County Governments Act of 2012 as prescribed in the 2010 Constitution of Kenya. Narok County governor is Patrick Ole Ntutu, elected in the 2022 general elections, and his Deputy is Tamalinye K. Koech. Trans Mara District
Trans Mara District was an administrative district in the former Rift Valley Province of Kenya. Its capital town was Kilgoris. The district had a population of 274,532 (2019 census) and an area of 2,846 km� It was created in 1994, when Trans Mara District was split from Narok District. The Mara Triangle (part of the Masai Mara reserve) is located in Trans-Mara District. The district had only one local authority, Trans Mara county council. Kilgoris
Kilgoris is a town in Narok County, Kenya with a population of 70,475 as of the 2019 census. Kilgoris is one of two major urban centres in Narok County, the other being the town also named Narok. Location The town is located about 60km west of the Masai Mara National Reserve, which is known for its annual migration of wildebeest. There is a murram road from the town through the neighbouring town of Lolgorien to Mara, another to Enoosaen in the west, and another to Kirindoni through the famous Oloololo gate side of the park. It is an alternative to Narok Road, especially for anyone coming from Western Kenya. Economy The town's economy relies on agriculture, trade, and some tourism due to its proximity to Maasai Mara. 1997 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 29 December 1997 to elect the President and the members of the National Assembly. The result was a victory for the ruling Kenya African National Union, which won 107 of the 210 seats in the National Assembly, and whose candidate Daniel arap Moi won the presidential election. Following the election, Moi appointed a further 12 members to the Assembly. Julius Lekakeny Sunkuli
Julius Lekakeny Sunkuli is a Kenyan politician. He is currently a member of parliament in the National Assembly Representing Kilgoris constituency having been elected back on 8 August 2022. He previously represented the Kilgoris Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in between 1992 and 2002. He went to Kilgoris Secondary school between 1978 and 1981 where he later joined University of Nairobi where he studied LLB. He went to kericho law court and served as a judge before joining politics in 1992. The Kenya African National Union (KANU) is a Kenyan political party that ruled for nearly 40 years after Kenya's independence from British colonial rule in 1963 until its electoral loss in 2002. It was known as Kenya African Union (KAU) from 1944 but due to pressure from the colonial government, KAU changed its name to Kenya African Study Union (KASU) mainly because all political parties were banned in 1939 following the start of the Second World War.
