Kilbarchan F.C.
Kilbarchan Football Club was a Scottish football team located in the village of Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire. History The club was founded in October 1879. Despite being one of the smaller sides in the county, the club survived, with scant success, for almost three decades. The club's first notable achievement was reaching the final of the Johnstone & District Cup in 1881–82, losing to Clippens; the club would gain revenge in the final two years later. 1881–82 also saw the club's first entries into the Scottish Cup and Renfrewshire Cup. In the county competition, Kilbarchan went out at the first time of asking, 4–1 to Renfrew. In the national competition, however, the club had what proved to be its best run, reaching the third round. In the first round, the club beat Ladyburn 8–1, thanks to six unanswered second-half goals, and in the second won 4–3 at Wellington Park, in a match played at Morton's Cappielow Park. 1881–82 Scottish Cup
The 1881–82 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the ninth season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. A total of 147 teams entered the competition, five more than the previous record set in 1879–80. For the second season in a row, defending champions Queen's Park played Dumbarton in the final. After the original match finished in a 2–2 draw on 18 March 1882, Queen's Park won the trophy for a sixth time with a 4–1 win in the replay 1 April 1882. Calendar As with the previous competitions, the eighth edition of the Scottish Cup took on the format of a traditional knockout tournament. Scottish Qualifying Cup
The Scottish Qualifying Cup was a football competition played in Scotland between 1895 and 2007. During that time, apart from a brief spell in the 1950s, it was the only way for non-league teams to qualify for the Scottish Cup. The Qualifying Cup was open to all full member clubs of the Scottish Football Association, who were not members of the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League. The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. The Scottish Football Combination was a football league football structure set up in Scotland for clubs outside the Scottish Football League and the reserves (or A sides) of some of the League members. History 1896–1911 The competition was formed on 7 July 1896, by sides from various other competitions, including the Scottish Football Alliance and the Midland League. A handful of reserve clubs also expressed a wish to join, and these were accepted; indeed, the competition was over-subscribed, Hamilton Academical being accepted as members over Albion Rovers by 9 votes to 7, and Third Lanark's A side being preferred to that of Clyde.
