Kihwan Sim
Kihwan Sim (born 1983) is a South Korean operatic bass-baritone based at Oper Frankfurt, where he has performed leading roles such as the title role of Mozart's '' Figaro'' and Orest in '' Elektra'' by Richard Strauss. He has appeared as a guest internationally, including at the Metropolitan Opera. Life and career Kihwan Sim was born in South Korea in 1983. His mother was trained as a singer, and her brother was a voice teacher. The boy sang in the church choir of a Protestant church, and later in a vocal ensemble of ten male singers. He took voice lessons from age 18, and began a year later to study voice at the Yonsei University in Seoul, He had to interrupt studies for two years of military service, learning the tuba during that time. ''Turandot'' ( ; see #Origin and pronunciation of the name, below) is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to a libretto in Italian by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. Puccini left the opera unfinished at the time of his death in 1924; it premiered in 1926 after the music was posthumously completed by Franco Alfano. Peter Mattei
Peter Mattei (born 3 June 1965) in Piteå is a Swedish operatic baritone, particularly known for his performances in Mozart's baritone roles. Biography Mattei studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and debuted in Mozart's ''La finta giardiniera'' as Nardo at the Drottningholm Palace Theatre in Stockholm in 1990. In 1993 Mattei starred as Pentheus in the Ingmar Bergman's TV-film ''Backanterna''. He sang the title role in Mozart's ''Don Giovanni'' for the first time at the Gothenburg Opera in the 1994–95 season. Aile Asszonyi (born 22 July 1975) is an Estonian soprano who has made an international career, known for dramatic roles such as Puccini's Turandot, Wagner's Senta and Elektra by Richard Strauss.
