Kickline
A kickline is a show dance figure consisting of a series of dancers who throw their legs synchronised up to eye level in the air, forming a straight line. The challenge in performing a kickline is not only the process of lifting the leg in a coordinated manner in order to create a uniform impression, but also lowering it again quickly enough to switch between the standing and throwing leg in quick succession. Well-known kicklines are formed by the New York Rockettes and the ensemble of Berlin's Friedrichstadt-Palast. Kicklines are also often performed in cheerleading and drill teams. The Rockettes
The Radio City Rockettes are an American precision dance company. Founded in 1925 in St. Louis, they have, since 1932, performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Until 2015, they also had a touring company. They are best known for starring in the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, an annual Christmas show, and for performing annually since 1957 at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. History The Rockettes were originally inspired by the Tiller Girls, a precision dance company of the United Kingdom established by John Tiller in the 1890s. Tiller sent the first troupe of Tiller Girls to perform in the United States in 1900, and eventually there were three lines of them working on Broadway. Concert dance (also known as performance dance or theatre dance in the United Kingdom) is dance performed for an audience. Friedrichstadt-Palast
The Friedrichstadt-Palast, also shortened to Palast Berlin, is a revue theatre in the Berlin district of Mitte (German for "middle" or "center"). The term Friedrichstadt-Palast refers both to the building as well as the institution and its ensemble. The present building is distinct from its predecessor, the Old Friedrichstadt-Palast (former Grosses Schauspielhaus), which was located near Schiffbauerdamm and demolished in 1985.
