Kibwé Johnson
Kibwé Johnson (born July 17, 1981) is an American Olympic track and field athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. He has represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics three times (2007, 2011, and 2015). Competed in the 2012 London Olympics where he made the final and finished 9th. No American had made the final since 1996. Johnson competed in Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's hammer throw, 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. He is a three-time medalist at the Pan American Games, having taken silver in 2007 Pan American Games, 2007 and improved to the gold in 2011 Pan American Games, 2011 (where he broke the Games record), and then repeated in 2015 Pan American Games, 2015 in Toronto. Hammer Throw
The hammer throw (HT for short) is one of the four throwing events in regular outdoor track-and-field competitions, along with the discus throw, shot put and Javelin throw, javelin. The hammer used in this sport is not like any of the tools also called by that name. It consists of a metal ball attached by a steel wire to a grip. These three components are each separate and can move independently. Both the size and weight of the ball vary between men's and women's events. Moorpark, California
Moorpark is a city in Ventura County in Southern California. Moorpark was founded in 1900. The town grew from just over 4,000 citizens in 1980 to over 25,000 by 1990. In 2006, Moorpark was one of the fastest-growing cities in Ventura County. The population was 34,421 at the 2010 census, up from 31,415 at the 2000 census. Etymology The town most likely was named after the Moorpark apricot, which used to grow in the area (hence the apricot flower on the town's seal and flag). Koji Murofushi
is a Japanese former hammer thrower and sports scientist. He has been among the world elite since the 2001 World Championships, where he won the silver medal. He was the 2004 Olympic champion. In 2011, he was crowned world champion. Early life and education Koji Murofushi was born on 8 October 1974 in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. He is of Japanese and Romanian descent. His father, Shigenobu Murofushi is a former Olympian and held the Japanese record for 23 years before it was broken by Koji. Murofushi's sister, Yuka Murofushi, throws both hammer and discus. Murofushi's mother, Serafina Moritz, is a Hungarian of Romanian origin. She was a javelin thrower for Romania. Murofushi speaks Romanian. Tore Gustafsson
Lars Tore Gustafsson (born 11 February 1962) is a retired male hammer thrower from Sweden, who competed at three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1988 (Seoul, South Korea). Since his retirement from competition, he has enjoyed success as a hammer coach Competitive career Competing for the Washington State Cougars track and field team, Gustafsson won the 1985 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the hammer throw. James Steacy (born 29 May 1984 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a male hammer thrower from Canada. His personal best of 79.13 metres, achieved in May 2008 in Lethbridge, Alberta, stood as the Canadian record until 2023. He represented Canada at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
