Bengo Province
Bengo is a Provinces of Angola, province of Angola. Its capital is Caxito. It has an area of 31,371 square kilometres, and its population as of the 2014 Census was 356,641. The province was created in 1980 by dividing the original province of Luanda Province, Luanda into Bengo and a new smaller province of Luanda. Geography The province is bordered by the provinces of Zaire Province, Zaire to the North, Uíge Province, Uige to the Northeast, Cuanza Norte to the East, and Cuanza Sul to the South. It has two western coastal stretches along the Atlantic Ocean, and forms an enclave around the national capital's province of Luanda Province, Luanda. The Kissama National Park and the Kibinda Forest Reserve are here. The province also has a number of lakes, most of them are in the municipalities of Dande and Icolo and Bengo. Provinces Of Angola
Angola is divided into twenty-one provinces, known in Portuguese language, Portuguese as ''províncias''. On 14 August 2024, Angola's National Assembly (Angola), National Assembly approved a law to create three new provinces: * Cuando Cubango Province was divided into Cuando Province and Cubango Province; * Icolo e Bengo Province was separated from Luanda Province; and * Moxico Leste Province was separated from Moxico Province. This law went into effect with its publication in the official gazette of Angola on 5 September 2024, and are expected to become operational in 2025. Dembos
Dembos is a municipality in the Bengo Province of Angola. The municipal seat is the city of Quibaxe. In 2014, it had a population of 28,202. It is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Nambuangongo and Quitexe, to the east by the municipality of Bula Atumba, to the south by the municipality of Pango Aluquém, and to the west by the municipality of Dande. The municipality is located about 180 kilometers north of the city of Caxito, in the same province, and consists of four communes: Paredes, Piri, Quibaxe, and São José das Matas (formerly Quoxe). The administrator since 2017 has been António Augusto João. History The municipality of Dembos was part of the historic Dembos district (the precursor of the current Bengo province) in the 19th century.
