Kiambu
Kiambu is a town in Kiambu County, Kenya. It is from the national capital, Nairobi. It is the capital of Kiambu County, which bounds the northern border of Nairobi. Other proximate towns are Ruiru, Gatundu, Limuru and Kabete. Administration Apart from central Kiambu, there are villages such as Ndumberi, Ting'ang'a, Riabai, Kihingo, Ngegu, Kanunga, and Kangoya among others. The town's administration is under the County Government of Kiambu, which came into force with the promulgation of Kenya's constitution in 2010. Kiambu is also the centre of Kiambu Town Constituency, an administrative division and electoral constituency of Kiambu subcounty. Kiambu County
Kiambu County is a county in the former Central Province of Kenya. Its capital is Kiambu and its largest town is Thika town. Kiambu County is the second most populous county in Kenya after Nairobi County. Kiambu County borders Nairobi and Kajiado Counties to the South, Machakos to the East, Murang'a to the North and North East, Nyandarua to the North West, and Nakuru to the West. It has a population of 2,417,735. The county is 40% rural and 60% urban owing to Nairobi's consistent growth Northwards. The Kikuyu are the dominant tribe in the county. Kenya has five incorporated cities including the capital and largest city, Nairobi, the second-largest city of Mombasa, and the third-largest city, Kisumu. The fourth city to be awarded the status was Nakuru, which was upgraded from a municipality on 1 December 2021. The fifth was Eldoret, which was elevated on 15th August, 2024. Ruiru
Ruiru is a municipality and sub-county in Kiambu County, Kenya. It sits within the greater Nairobi#Nairobi metropolitan region, Nairobi Metropolitan region. According to the 2019 national population census, Ruiru was the 4th largest urban centre in Kenya by population. The name Ruiru is of the Kikuyu language, Kikuyu origin and possibly relates to the Vertisol, black cotton soil that is found in most parts of Ruiru. Gatundu
Gatundu is a small town in Kiambu County of Kenya. It is known for the first Kenyan president Jomo Kenyatta who lived about three kilometres away from the town, as well as his son, Uhuru Kenyatta, the 4th President of Kenya and former Member of Parliament representing Gatundu South Constituency. The town is located on a hill surrounded by many farms and residences. Demographics Gatundu has an approximate population of 20,000 people who reside and work within and near the town. Ndumberi
Ndumberi is a municipality division in Central Province, Kenya. It is located at an elevation of about 1,820 m. The surrounding catchment has a population of about 18,000. It is located 3 km NW of Kiambu, the capital of the Kiambu County. Ndumberi is the home to some of the prominent leaders in the country Kenya including Githu Muigai, renowned gospel artists the likes of Shiru wa GP, Betty bio among others. Its land value is on the high rise, with affordable food water as well as rental houses. Kabete
Kabete is the ancestral name of the present Kiambu county. Today, it is a neighbourhood that located along the border of Nairobi County, Nairobi and Kiambu County, Kiambu counties. It is located less than outside of the capital city of Nairobi. According to the 2009 census, the Kabete area has a population of 140,427. As part of the Nairobi Highlands area, the region's environment remains unpolluted. Anthropologist Louis Leakey was born in Kabete. His nickname was Giteru and hence the reference Kabete gwa Giteru (Meaning Kabete, Giteru's place).
