Khoo Soo Seang
Datuk Khoo Soo Seang () is a Malaysian politician of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a major party in Malaysia's previous governing Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Politic career Khoo was the Member of Parliament for Tebrau constituency, in Johor for one term from 2013 to 2018. Khoo was elected during the 2013 general elections, when he defeated People's Justice Party (PKR) candidate Choong Shiau Yoon with a majority of 1,767 votes. Khoo earned 39,985 votes compared to his opponent with only 38,218 votes. In the 2018 general elections, Khoo do not seek re-election for the Tebrau constituency which was contested by MCA's vice-president Dr. Hou Kok Chung instead as BN candidate. 2018 Malaysian General Election
The 2018 Malaysian General Election, formally known as the 14th Malaysian General Election (), was held on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, for members of the 14th Parliament of Malaysia. At stake were all 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat (the legislature's lower house) and 505 seats in 12 out of the 13 state legislative assemblies of Malaysia. The 13th Parliament of Malaysia was dissolved by Prime Minister Najib Razak on 7 April 2018. It would have been automatically dissolved on 24 June 2018, five years after the first meeting of the first session of the 13th Parliament of Malaysia on 24 June 2013. The People's Justice Party ( ms, Parti Keadilan Rakyat , often known simply as KEADILAN or PKR) is a reformist political party in Malaysia, formed in 2003 by a merger of the National Justice Party and the older Malaysian People's Party. The party was led by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and increased its parliamentary representation from one seat to 31 seats in the 2008 general election, until the five-year political ban imposed on former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was lifted on 14 April 2008. The party is the second largest party after Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition that formed the government after defeating Barisan Nasional, which had ruled the country for 60 years since independence in the 2018 election. 2004 Malaysian General Election
A general election was held on Sunday, 21 March 2004 for members of the 11th Parliament of Malaysia. Voting took place in all 219 parliamentary constituencies of Malaysia, each electing one Member of Parliament to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. This is first election for Abdullah as Prime Minister since appointed for this position in 2003. The Election Commission of Malaysia ( ms, Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia), abbreviated SPR or EC, is a commission set up for ensuring fair and equitable operations in undertaking the elections in Malaysia.
