Khayyam (play)
"Khayyam" ( az, Xəyyam) is a tragedy written by the Azerbaijani playwright Huseyn Javid, in 1935. It was dedicated to the famous poet and thinker Omar Khayyam, and was firstly published in 1963 in Baku. It was staged in March 1970 at the Azerbaijan Drama Theatre in Baku. Play’s history Huseyn Javid wrote the play "Khayyam" in 1935. In the same year, it was awarded the 3rd place in the competition of literary works of the Azerbaijan SSR. Huseyn Javid once sent the play to his friend who lived in Yerevan. After a long time, in 1957, his daughter, Turan Javid, managed to find it in Yerevan and bring it to Baku. The play was firstly published in 1963 by the Azerneshr publishing house in Baku. On 12 March 1970, the play was staged in the Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre named after M. Huseyn Javid
Huseyn Javid ( az, Hüseyn Cavid),was born Huseyn Abdulla oglu Rasizadeh (24 October 1882, Nakhchivan – 5 December 1941, Shevchenko, Tayshetsky District), was a prominent Azerbaijani poet and playwright of the early 20th century. He was one of the founders of progressive romanticism movement in the contemporary Azerbaijani literature. He was exiled during the Stalin purges in the USSR. Life and career Huseyn Abdulla oglu Rasizadeh was born in 1882 to a family of a theologian in Nakhchivan in the Erivan Governorate. After completing his elementary education at a religious school in 1898, Javid pursued his mid-school education in the Maktab-i Tarbiya of Mashadi Taghi Sidgi. In 1899–1903, Huseyn Javid studied in the Talibiyya Madrasah in Tabriz. After obtaining a degree in literature at the Istanbul University in 1909, Javid worked as a teacher in Nakhchivan, Ganja and Tiflis, and starting from 1915 in Baku. Shafiga Mammadova
Shafiga Hashim gizi Mammadova ( az, Şəfiqə Haşım qızı Məmmədova; March 30, 1945) — is an Azerbaijani cinema and theatre actress. She was the honoured Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1974) and People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1982). Biography She was born on March 30, 1945, in Derbent, Dagestan, Russia. In 1968, Shafiga graduated from actor faculty of Azerbaijan State Theatrical Institute. Since 1968, she played at Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre. Since 1980, she teaches at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (former Theatrical Institute). From 1995 to 2000, she was deputy of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. Historical Plays
History is one of the three main genres in Western theatre alongside tragedy and comedy, although it originated, in its modern form, thousands of years later than the other primary genres. ''Siyavush'' ( az, Səyavuş) is a legendary-historic play, a tragedy in five acts written by Huseyn Javid, an Azerbaijani poet and playwright in 1932-1933. It is based on motifs of an ancient story from “Shahnameh” poem by Ferdowsi, to the 1000th anniversary of the poet. In 1934, the play was published and then staged by Ismayil Hidayetzade. The play is about a destiny of young Siyavush, who lapses into philosophic thoughts about assignment of a human being, happiness and meaning of the life. Hasanagha Turabov
Hasanagha Turabov ( az, Həsənağa Turabov, russian: Гасанага Турабов; 24 March 1938, Baku – 23 February 2003, Baku) was an Azerbaijani and Soviet actor, who starred in leading roles in numerous Azerbaijani films, including '' Yeddi Ogul Isterem'', '' Babek,'' laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan SSR (1972), People's Artist of Azerbaijan SSR (1982) the laureate of the Order, a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Life Turabov was born on 24 March 1938 in Baku and studied at a secondary school No 31 here. After graduating from high school (Azerbaijan Art Institute) he entered Academy of Acting. Since that time he worked as an actor at the Azerbaijan Drama Theater till the end of his life. In 1987-2001 he worked as director and artistic director of the theater. Hasanagha died in 2003.
