Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav (15 January 1925 – 14 August 1984) was an Indian freestyle wrestler. He is best known for winning a bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He was the first athlete from independent India to win an individual medal in the Olympics. Norman Pritchard
Norman Gilbert Pritchard (23 June 1875 – 30 October 1929), also known by his stage name Norman Trevor, was a British-Indian athlete and actor who became the first Asian-born athlete to win an Olympic medal when he won two silver medals in athletics at the 1900 Paris Olympics representing India. He won India's first medal at the Olympics in the 200 metres and the 200 metres hurdles. Biography Norman Pritchard was born in Calcutta to George Petersen Pritchard and Helen Maynard Pritchard. He studied at St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, and is credited with the first hat-trick in an open football tournament in India, for Saint Xavier's against Sovabazar in July 1897. Pritchard won the Bengal province 100 yards sprint title for seven consecutive years, from 1894 to 1900 and set a meet record in 1898–99. He also won the 440-yard dash and the 120 yards hurdles. Rashid Garabey oglu Mammadbeyov (, ; 28 February 1927 – 4 December 1970) was a bantamweight freestyle wrestler. He became the first Olympic medalist of Azerbaijani origin when he won the freestyle wrestling silver medal at the 1952 Summer Olympic Games. Ferdinand Schmitz
Ferdinand Schmitz (October 14, 1919 – November 6, 1981) was a German wrestler who competed at the 1952 Summer Olympics. In Helsinki he participated in both the freestyle and Greco-Roman bantamweight competitions, eventually withdrawing from the former and finishing sixth in the latter. He had two podium results at the European Championships, placing third in 56 kg Greco-Roman event in 1938 and second in the 61-kg Greco-Roman event in 1939. Shahaji II
Shahaji II (formerly ''Vikramsinhrao (Nana Sahib) Pawar'') (4 April 1910 – 9 May 1983) of the Bhonsle dynasty of the Marathas, was the Maharaja of Kolhapur between 1947 and 1949. He was the grandson of Shahu of Kolhapur through his daughter Radhabai and hence nephew of Rajaram III of Kolhapur. He was the son of Maharaja Tukoji Rao III Pawar of Dewas Senior. He was the Maharaja of Dewas Senior between 1937 and 1947, when he abdicated to become Maharaja of Kolhapur. He was the first Maharaja of Kolhapur to be adopted from the Pawar dynasty. As his only son Krishnajirao III had already succeeded him as the Maharaja of Dewas Senior in 1947 therefore, his grandson from eldest daughter Shaliniraje succeeded him as the titular Maharaja of Kolhapur in 1983 with regnal name Shahu II of Kolhapur.
