Alexander Valeryevich "Sasha" Kharlamov (; born September 23, 1975) is a Russian former ice hockey player. Kharlamov was selected in the first round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals, though he never played in the National Hockey League. Nikolai Mikhailovich Kharlamov (; 19 December 1905 – 9 April 1983) was a Soviet military leader and admiral. Early life Kharlamov was born in the city of Zhukovka in the Oryol Governorate in 1905. Semyon Ilyich Kharlamov (; 30 April 1921 5 May 1990) was a reconnaissance and fighter pilot during World War II who was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. He later went on to hold various command posts in the air force, and eventually reaching the rank of colonel-general. His wife, Nadezhda Popova, a squadron commander in the famed "Night Witches" who he met at the warfront, was also a Hero of the Soviet Union. The title Hero of the Soviet Union () was the highest distinction in the Soviet Union, awarded together with the Order of Lenin personally or collectively for heroic feats in service to the Soviet state and society. Valeri Borisovich Kharlamov (, ; 14 January 1948 – 27 August 1981) was a Russian ice hockey forward who played for CSKA Moscow in the Soviet League from 1967 until his death in 1981. Vasily Akimovich Kharlamov () (1 January 1875 – 13 March 1957) was a Russian politician involved in the revolution and civil war. Kharlamov, of the Don Cossacks, was a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party and was elected to all four State Dumas of the Russian Empire. After the 1917 February Revolution, the Russian Provisional Government made him a chair of the ephemeral Special Transcaucasian Committee (Ozakom) in 1917. Later, Kharlamov headed the Government of the Union of South-Eastern Cossack troops, Caucasus Mountaineers and Free Peoples of the Steppe.
