Khalistan Tiger Force
Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) is a militant outfit of the Khalistan movement. In February 2023, it was designated as a terrorist organization by the Government of India. In May 2023, India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two wanted persons at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, who allegedly were close aides of KTF's Arshdeep Singh, an "individual designated terrorist" based in Canada. In June 2023, NIA arrested Gagandeep Singh who allegedly is a close-aide of KTF operatives. Gagandeep Singh was also arrested previously in July 2021. The Indian government alleged that Hardeep Singh Nijjar was the leader of the outfit. Origin and leaders Khalistan Tiger Force was formed by Jagtar Singh Tara, a former Babbar Khalsa, Babbar Khalsa International, another military organisation. Indian Airlines Flight 423
Indian Airlines Flight 423 ( IATA No.: IC423) was an Indian Airlines Boeing 737 domestic passenger flight from the Delhi-Palam Airport to the Amritsar-Raja Sansi Airport on 29 September 1981. It was hijacked by five Sikh Terrorist of the Dal Khalsa, masterminded by Sikh Terrorist and taken to Lahore Airport in Pakistan. The plane had 111 passengers and 6 crew members on board. The Dal Khalsa had been demanding a separate Sikh homeland of Khalistan. The leader of the hijackers, Gajender Singh, talked to Natwar Singh, India's ambassador in Pakistan, and put forward his demands. Singh had demanded the release of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and others, and a sum of $500,000 in cash. Pakistan rescued the passengers upon request from India in spite of protests by Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. 1984 Sikh Massacre
The 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots, also known as the 1984 Sikh Massacre, was a series of organised pogroms against Sikhs in India following the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Government estimates project that about 2,800 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and 3,350 nationwide, whilst independent sources estimate the number of deaths at about 17,000–30,000. The assassination of Indira Gandhi itself had taken place shortly after she had ordered Operation Blue Star, a military action to secure the Harmandir Sahib Sikh temple complex in Amritsar, Punjab, in June 1984. The operation had resulted in a deadly battle with armed Sikh groups who were demanding greater rights and autonomy for Punjab. Dal Khalsa (organization)
Dal Khalsa is a Sikh organisation, based in the city of Amritsar. The outfit was formed in 1978 by Gajinder Singh, the hijacker of Indian Airlines Flight 423. It came to prominence during Insurgency in Punjab along with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in 1981. Members of the Dal Khalsa have also been accused of the assassination of Lala Jagat Narain.
