Khadija, Khadeeja or Khadijah () is an Arabic feminine given name, the name of Khadija bint Khuwaylid, first wife of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. In 1995, it was one of the three most popular Arabic feminine names in the Muslim world, along with Fatima and Aisha. Hatice is the Turkish equivalent. Khadija Bint Khuwaylid
Khadija bint Khuwaylid (November 619) was the first wife of Muhammad. Born into an aristocratic clan of the Quraysh, she was an affluent merchant in her own right and was known to have a noble personality within her tribe. In his early 20s, she employed Muhammad to manage a trade caravan to Syria and, impressed by his skills, subsequently offered him marriage, which he accepted. The couple had two sons, Qasim and Abd Allah, and four daughters, Zaynab, Ruqayya, Umm Kulthum and Fatima. In the aftermath of Muhammad's first revelation, Khadija is credited to have been the first convert to Islam. She continued to support her husband throughout her life and died in November 619 (Ramadan BH 3); the year was reportedly termed the " Year of Sorrow" by Muhammad. Khadija Rovshan qizi Ismayilova (, ; born 27 May 1976), alternatively spelled Ismailova, is an Azerbaijani investigative journalist and radio host who is currently working for the Azerbaijani service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, until recently as the host of the daily debate show ''İşdən Sonra''. She is a member of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project. Princess Lalla Khadija of Morocco (born 28 February 2007) is the younger child of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and Princess Lalla Salma. Khadija Gbla (born 1988) is an Australian feminist and human rights activist She works as a cultural consultant, a keynote speaker and an anti- female genital mutilation (FGM) campaigner, based in South Australia. She founded the advocacy organisation No FGM Australia, which works to stamp out the practice. Personal life Gbla was born in Sierra Leone around 1988. When she was three years old, in 1991 her family moved to the Gambia and later to Australia, for safety reasons, where they were granted refugee status in 2001, when Gbla was 13 years old. Female genital mutilation (FGM) was performed on Gbla by an old woman in the Gambia when she was nine, removing her clitoris and labia minora. She did not understand it at the time. Khadija Sultana
Khadija Sultana (1600 – died after 1665) was the regent of the Bijapur Sultanate between 1656 and 1661. She was the daughter of Sultan Muhammad Qutb Shah, married to Mohammed Adil Shah, Sultan of Bijapur and possible mother of Ali Adil Shah II, and acted as the regent for him during his minority. Biography Khadija Sultana was the daughter of Muhammad Qutb Shah of Golkonda (1593–1626) and an unknown mother. In 1633 she married Mohammed Adil Shah (1613–1656) who ruled as the Sultan of Bijapur from 1626 to 1656. She was of the highest rank among his wives holding the title Bari Sahiba or Bari Sahib. Khadijah Hashim (born 20 April 1942 in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia) is a Malaysian writer, teacher and journalist. She has worked as a teacher and also as a journalist with local newspapers Utusan Melayu (1974–1976) and Berita Harian (1976–1985). She is better known as a novelist, and has produced 19 novels. She also expanded her creativity in the field of short stories, radio drama scripts, children's books, rhymes and poetry. The children's rhyme book "Sayang Sayang" has been selected to be on Honour List of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) in Basel, Switzerland (2002) and "Semerbak Poetry" in Macau, China (2006).
