Kevin Avery
Kevin Avery (born June 24, 1957) is an American biographer, short story writer, and editor. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, he now lives in Brooklyn, New York. His first two books, ''Everything Is an Afterthought: The Life and Writings of Paul Nelson'' and ''Conversations with Clint: Paul Nelson's Lost Interviews with Clint Eastwood, 1979 - 1983'', were published within weeks of each other by two different publishers, Fantagraphics Books and Continuum Books, respectively, in 2011. Early life Kevin Avery was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Career Prior to publishing his first book, Avery was vice-president of Yield Management for Motor Cargo, a Western regional transportation company that was acquired by ''UPS Freight'', the Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) trucking division of UPS. ''Penthouse'' is a List of men's magazines, men's magazine founded by Bob Guccione and published by Los Angeles–based Penthouse World Media, LLC. It combines urban lifestyle articles and Softcore pornography, softcore pornographic pictures of women that, in the 1990s, evolved into Hardcore pornography, hardcore pornographic pictures of women. Although Guccione was American, the magazine was founded in the United Kingdom in 1965, and first published simultaneously in the UK and the U.S. in March 1965. From September 1969, an "American Edition" was made available in the United States. Elliott Murphy
Elliott James Murphy (born March 16, 1949) is an American rock singer-songwriter, novelist, record producer, and journalist. Biography Elliott Murphy was born in Rockville Centre, New York, grew up in Garden City, Long Island and began playing the guitar at age twelve. His band The Rapscallions won the 1966 New York State Battle of the Bands. In 1971 he travelled to Europe and appeared in the Federico Fellini film Roma Returning to New York, in 1973 he secured a record contract with Polydor Records after being noticed by rock critic Paul Nelson. In 1988, he returned to college studies he had given up in the 1960s, and completed his bachelor's degree at Empire State College. Jackson Browne
Clyde Jackson Browne (born October 9, 1948) is an American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and political activist who has sold over 30 million albums in the United States. Emerging as a teenage songwriter in mid-1960s Los Angeles, he had his first successes writing songs for others. He wrote "These Days (Jackson Browne song), These Days" as a 16-year-old; the song became a minor hit for the German singer and Andy Warhol protégé Nico in 1967. Paul Nelson (January 21, 1936 — circa July 5, 2006) was an Artists and repertoire, A&R executive, magazine editor, and music critic best known for writing for ''Sing Out!'', ''The Village Voice'' and ''Rolling Stone''. Born in Warren, Minnesota, Nelson attended St. Olaf College before graduating from University of Minnesota, where he became acquainted with Bob Dylan and co-founded a seminal folk revival magazine, ''The Little Sandy Review''. John Callahan (cartoonist)
John Michael Callahan (February 5, 1951 – July 24, 2010) was an American cartoonist, artist, and musician. His quadriplegia drove both his rough artistic style and much of his frequently impolite content. Accident and career Callahan became a Tetraplegia, quadriplegic in a drunk driving auto accident as a passenger in 1972 at age 21. The accident happened in Callahan's car, which was being driven by a man he did not know well. Following this, Callahan became a cartoonist, drawing by clutching a pen between both hands, having regained partial use of his upper body. His visual artistic style was simple and often rough, although still legible. Callahan's cartoons dealt with subjects often considered taboo, including disabilities and disease. Graham Thomas Parker (born 18 November 1950) is an English singer-songwriter, who is best known as the lead singer of the British band Graham Parker & the Rumour.
