Kerry Williams (born 7 September 1977 in Edmondson, Canada) is a Canadian former women's International motorcycle trials rider. Williams is a three-time US NATC Trials National Champion, winning the 2002, 2006, and 2007 titles. Biography Williams competed in both Canada and the United States throughout her career. In 2000, she was runner-up to her sister Christy Williams in the American NATC Women's Trials Championship, winning the final two rounds. 2000 was also the first year that a women's championship was added to the annual Trial des Nations event, this year held in Spain. Kerry and Christy competed as the Canadian team, finishing a creditable 5th. Williams also picked up a 10th-place finish in Spain's FIM Women's Trials Championship. 2001 saw a repeat performance with another second-place finish in the NATC Women's Championship behind her sister and second place in the Canadian Women's Championship again behind Christy. Motorcycle trials, also known as observed trials, often called simply trial or trials, is a non-speed event on specialized motorcycles. The sport is most popular in the United Kingdom and Spain, though there are participants around the globe. Modern trials motorcycles are distinctive in that they have evolved to become extremely lightweight, lack seating (they are designed to be ridden standing up) and have suspension travel that is short, relative to a motocross or enduro motorcycle. Motorcycle trials is often utilized by competitors in other motorcycle sports (such as enduro, motocross or road racers) as a way to cross-train, as trials requires fine throttle, balance, and machine control. NATC Trials Championship
The North American Trials Council Championship is the official US National Trials Championship and has been held since 1974. History In 1974 The NATC joined forces with the AMA and put together a nine-round series as the US National Trials Championship. Lane Leavitt showed his class by winning five of the eight rounds he competed in. In second place was up and coming star Marland Whaley on the Montesa with early series leader Don Sweet bringing his Yamaha home in third. Factory Honda rider Marland Whaley stomped all over the championship in 1977 taking eight wins from eight starts, leaving the rest to fight it out for second spot. Christy Williams
Christy Williams (born 14 August 1980), is an international women's motorcycle trials rider. Williams is a four time Canadian Women's Trials Champion and ten time American NATC Women's Trials Champion. Biography Williams was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. In 1999 Williams headed over the border into the United States to compete in the NATC Women's Trials Championship . She won the 1999 series ahead of American rider Pam DeBruin then returned to defend her title in 2000 and 2001, both years winning ahead of her sister Kerry Williams. They repeated their one-two combination again in 2003 and 2004, then Christy won in 2005 ahead of Louise Forsley. Williams returned to take three more titles in 2008 until 2010. ''Trial des Nations'' is the most important Motorcycle trials competition of national teams organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM). After the experiment of Myślenice, Poland, the first official ''trial of Nations'' was held in Canzo, Italy, and managed by the Moto Club Canzo. The Italian club also proposed to maintain this event as a yearly competition. Since then, it has been held annually at different countries. Each team is composed of four riders in the male category, and since 2000, three riders in the female category. The team with fewest total penalties is awarded the title. FIM Trial World Championship
The FIM Trial World Championship and FIM X-Trial World Championship are the most prestigious motorcycle trials tournaments of the world, organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. The outdoor championship is held since 1964 and the indoor (X-Trial) since 1993. From 1964 to 1967 the championship was named Challenge Henry Groutars. From 1968 to 1974, it was the Trial European Championship, and from 1975 onwards it has been known as the World Championship. Louise Forsley
Louise Forsley (born 7 June 1990 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, United States) is an International Women's motorcycle trials rider. Forsley rode the US NATC National Championships and the FIM World Trials Championships. Forsley is a two time Women's National Champion. Louise competed in the 2012 Xgames in Los Angeles, California and took home the silver medal. Biography Forsley grew up in Bernardston, Massachusetts. She finished third in the 2004 NATC Trials Championship, US NATC Women's Trials Championship behind the Canadian Gas Gas duo of Christy Williams and Kerry Williams. She was selected as part of the US Trial des Nations team and traveled to Spain along with Nicole Bradford and Debbie Evans, Debbie Evans Leavitt. The team finished 8th. Sarah Duke
Sarah Duke (born 28 October 1987 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States), is an international women's motorcycle trials rider. Biography Duke began riding trials in 2001. In 2005, she was selected for the US Women's Trial des Nations team with Nicole Bradford and Louise Forsley to compete in Italy. The team finished in 9th place. Duke finished the 2006 season with third place in the US NATC Women's Trials Championship behind the Canadian Gas-Gas rider Kerry Williams and the American Sherco rider Caroline Altman. With Forsley, Duke competed for the US Trial des Nations team in France, finishing 7th. Montesa Honda
Montesa Honda is a subsidiary business of Honda, which assembles several models of motorcycles and bicycles in Barcelona, Spain. It was formed in 1944 by Pere Permanyer and Bultaco, Francesc Xavier "Paco" Bultó. The business was Spanish-owned until entering into an association with Honda. Permanyer and Bultó Their first Montesa prototype was based upon the French Motobécane models of that time. The FIM Trials European Championship is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and has been held since 1992. The championship gives up and coming riders a chance to compete at international level against top class riders, many who have progressed to become champions in the FIM Trial World Championship such as current champion Toni Bou and past champions Dougie Lampkin and Adam Raga History The Inaugural championship was held in 1992 with a single class format.
