Kerala Fiber Optic Network
Kerala Fibre Optic Network (K-FON) is a public-funded initiative by the Kerala government that aims to provide high-speed Internet connectivity to the whole Indian state of Kerala. It is the project of the first Pinarayi Vijayan government and was launched in February 2021 to ensure universal Internet connectivity, addressing the issue of the digital divide, and connecting 2 million below-poverty-line (BPL) families in Kerala. KFON got the Internet Service Provider Licence from the Department of Telecommunications in 2022, making Kerala the first Indian state to have its own Internet service. In the first phase, K-Fon's internet service will be available in 14,000 economically backward houses and over 30,000 government institutions. Pinarayi Vijayan
Pinarayi Vijayan (; born 24 May 1945) is an Indian politician who has served as the List of chief ministers of Kerala, Chief Minister of Kerala since 25 May 2016. A member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He has also served as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives during Third Nayanar ministry, the third E. K. Nayanar ministry. Below Poverty Line is a benchmark used by the government of India to indicate economic disadvantage and to identify individuals and households in need of government assistance and aid. It is determined using various parameters which vary from state to state and within states. The present criteria are based on a survey conducted in 2002. Going into a survey due for a decade, India's central government is undecided on criteria to identify families below poverty line. Internationally, an income of less than ₹150 per day per head of purchasing power parity is defined as extreme poverty. By this estimate, about 12.4% of Indians are extremely poor as of year 2012. Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board
Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) was constituted by Government of Kerala as a Body Corporate financial institution in the Indian state of Kerala to mobilize funds for infrastructure development from outside the state revenue. KIIFB is a statutory body constituted by the 'Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Act, 1999' (Act 4 of 2000).
