Kepez is a municipality and district of Antalya Province, Turkey. Its area is 292 km2, and its population is 608,675 (2022). Geography Kepez is a part of Greater Antalya proper. The name Kepez means rocky area, referring to the local landscape prior to urbanisation, which consisted of a rocky plateau. AkçadaÄŸ () is a municipality and district of Malatya Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,118 km2, and its population is 27,872 (2022). The mayor is Ali Kazgan, and the kaymakam (district governor) is Adem Topaca. Geography AkçadaÄŸ is at an altitude of 1,050 m (3,440 ft) above sea level and the district is considered mountainous. History In Roman times, AkçadaÄŸ was known as ''Arca'' (lat) and became in the times of emperor Hadrian or Marcus Aurelius a colonia. The town became later a bishopric (suffragan of the diocese of Melitene), whose bishops participated in the councils of 431, 451, 553 and 680-81. Kürecik Radar Station () is a military installation located in the town of in Malatya Province, southeastern Turkey. It was established in 2012 for use by NATO as an early-warning radar against ballistic missile attacks. Background At the NATO Lisbon summit in November 2010, a strategic plan was concluded to establish a ballistic missile defense system covering all alliance members. As a NATO member state, the government of Turkey approved the installation of an early-warning radar system on its territory, but insisted on a condition that all the information gathered at the radar station would be strictly for use by the NATO member states. After signing an agreement on final conditions in September 2011, officials from Turkey and the U.S. determined a site near the town of Kürecik in the Akçadağ district of Malatya Province as feasible.
