Kenya Union Party
The Kenya Union Party (KUP) is a political party in Kenya. History The party was founded in 2021 by Governor of West Pokot County John Krop Lonyangapuo and David Pkosing. The party was one of 23 that contested the 2022 Kenyan general election as part of the Azimio La Umoja alliance. 3 were elected to the 13th Parliament of Kenya. After the election they dismissed claims of a change to Kenya Kwanza. West Pokot County
West Pokot County is a county of Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Kapenguria. The county covers an area of approximately 9,169.4 square kilometers and stretches a distance of 132 kilometers from North to South. West Pokot County is bordered to the north by Turkana County, to the east by Baringo County, to the southeast by Elgeyo-Marakwet County, to the south by Trans Nzoia County and to the west by Uganda. According to the 2019 census, the county has a population of 621,241. The county is home to Tegla Loroupe, one of the most famous Kenyan female runners. John Krop Lonyangapuo
John Krop Lonyang'apuo (born 10 December 1964) is a Kenyan politician. He was the former Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Industrialization (2008–2010), under the Leadership of President Mwai Kibaki. He is an active member and party leader of Kenya Union Party at the National Level. He is currently serving as the Governor for West Pokot County after serving as the Senator from 2013 to 2017.He was the governor of West Pokot County from 2017 to 2022. 2022 Kenyan General Election
General elections are scheduled to be held in Kenya on 9 August 2022. Voters will elect the President, members of the National Assembly and Senate, county governors and members of the 47 county assemblies. Background The Constitution of Kenya requires that a general election of members of parliament to be held on the second Tuesday in August in every fifth year, which means that the next general election is scheduled for 9 August 2022. Kenya Kwanza (Swahili: "Kenya First") is a Kenyan political alliance currently headed by William Ruto. The political coalition currently forms the majority side in both the National Assembly as well as the Senate of Kenya. It was formed in the run-up to the 2022 Kenyan general elections by its three founding parties UDA, Amani National Congress and FORD–Kenya. By 8 April 2022 eight other political parties had joined the alliance bringing the total number of constituent member-parties to 12. Kacheliba Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of four constituencies of West Pokot County. The constituency has six wards, which are represented by Members of County Assembly at the West Pokot County Assembly in Kapenguria. The constituency was established before the 1988 elections in order to cater for the interests of the Kara-Pokot community following years of under representation. The constituency was created by the Electoral Commission of Kenya through a publication in the Kenya Gazette. Historically, Kacheliba constituency was part of the Northern Frontier District of Kenya.
