Kentucky Route 182 (KY 182) is a state highway in Carter County, Kentucky, that runs from Kentucky Route 986 in rural Carter County south of Grahn to an unknown point on McGlone Creek Road 0.678 miles (1.091 km) past Cedar Run Road in rural Carter County southwest of Carter via Grahn. Route description Route 182 begins in rural Carter County (near Grayson Lake State Park) at its junction with KY 986. It runs north to the community of Grahn before turning northwest and running until it reaches US 60 just east of Olive Hill. This section of KY 182 is 8.535 miles and is classified "Rural Secondary" by the Kentucky Department of Transportation. Route 182 runs concurrent with US 60 for two miles in a north-northeasterly direction, interchanging with I-64 at mile marker 161. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is Kentucky's state-funded agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways, as well as regulating other transportation related issues. The Transportation Cabinet is led by the Kentucky Secretary of Transportation, who is appointed by the governor of Kentucky. Olive Hill, Kentucky
Olive Hill is a home rule-class city along Tygarts Creek in Carter County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 1,599 during the year 2010 U.S. Census. History Olive Hill began as a rural trading post established by the Henderson brothers in the first part of the 19th century. Although Olive Hill was allegedly named by Elias P. Davis for his friend Thomas Oliver, there is no evidence to support this popular contention. In 1881, the town was moved from a hillside location to the current location in the Tygarts Creek valley, where the Elizabethtown, Lexington, and Big Sandy Railroad had laid tracks. The hillside location become known as Old Olive Hill and now serves as the city's residential area. Grahn is an unincorporated community in Carter County, Kentucky, United States. It lies along Route 182, east of Olive Hill and southwest of the county seat of Grayson. Its elevation is 692 feet (211 m). It has a post office with the ZIP code 41142. The ZCTA for ZIP code 41142 had a population of 95 at the 2000 census. A post office was established in the community in 1888 as Fireclay. In 1909, it was renamed Grahn in honor of the German immigrant Karl Bernhard Grahn, founder of a successful brickyard. A school was constructed in Grahn in the 1930s under the direction of the WPA. This building was originally Grahn High School; later it became Grahn Elementary School. When the school was closed in 1994, residents of the area sought to purchase the building and renovate it into a community center. Interstate 64 In Kentucky
Interstate 64 (I-64) in the US state of Kentucky travels for , passing by the major towns and cities of Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington, and Ashland. It has several major junctions with other Interstates, including I-65, I-71, I-264, and I-265 in Louisville and I-75 in Lexington. Carter Caves State Resort Park
Carter Caves State Resort Park is located in Carter County, Kentucky, United States, along Tygarts Creek. It is formed by Carter Caves, and nearby Cascade Caves, which were added to the park in 1959. On December 16, 1981, of the park were designated as nature preserves. Bat Cave and Cascade Caverns State Nature Preserves were dedicated for the protection of the Indiana bat, mountain maple, and Canada yew, all endangered species.
