Kenting National Park (), commonly known as Kenting (), is a national park located on the Hengchun Peninsula of Pingtung County, Taiwan, covering Hengchun, Checheng, and Manzhou Townships. Established on 1 January 1984, it is Taiwan's oldest and the southernmost national park on the main island, covering the southernmost area of the Taiwan island along Bashi Channel. Administered by the Executive Yuan's Ministry of the Interior, this national park is well known for its tropical climate and sunshine, scenic mountain and beach, the Spring Scream rock-band festival held in every March, and has long been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Taiwan with 5.84 million visitors in 2016. Pingtung County is a county located in southern Taiwan. It has a warm tropical monsoon climate and is known for its agriculture and tourism. Cape Eluanbi or Oluanpi, also known by other names, is the southernmost point on the island of Taiwan. It is located in within the Hengchun Township in Pingtung County. Names ''Éluánbí'' is the pinyin romanization of the Mandarin pronunciation of its Chinese name These characters literally mean "Goose Bell Nose", but actually transcribe the local Hokkien pronunciation ''Gô-lôan'', used as a transliteration of the Paiwan ' ("sail"). Spring Scream
The Spring Scream () is an outdoor music festival held in early April each year at Kenting, Pingtung County, Taiwan. The festival showcases a variety of music styles from bands both from Taiwan and overseas. Each year the festival adds the name of the current Chinese astrological animal to its name. The festival is organized by two expatriate Americans, Wade Davis and Jimi Moe, and has grown significantly since its beginnings in 1995. The event length has been between 2 and 11 days and as many as 300 acts on 8 stages. It also features a film festival, art exhibits, DJs, stalls, food vendors and camping. South Bay (Taiwan)
South Bay, also known by other names, is a bay and adjacent beach near Hengchun in Pingtung County, Taiwan. It is part of Kenting National Park. Cape Maobitou is a cape in the township of Hengchun in Pingtung County, Taiwan. It lies within Kenting National Park and forms the western boundary of South Bay. It is one of the southernmost points on Taiwan Island, sits opposite to the Cape Eluanbi in the southeast. Name ''Māobítou'' is the pinyin romanization of the Mandarin pronunciation of the Chinese name, written in traditional characters and in simplified characters. It literally means "Cat Nose Head" but ''bítou'' is a simply a clarifying dialectical variation of ''bí'', itself a dialectical name for a headland. Longluan Lake
The Longluan Lake () is a lake in Kenting National Park, Hengchun Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan. History To solve the flooding problem around the lake area, the government built barriers on the eastern and northern sides of the lake where the elevations are relatively lower. Geology The lake lays in a low-laying area which is prone to flooding during rainy seasons. With a span area of 175 hectares and an average depth of 3.5 meters, the lake is the biggest fresh water lake in Taiwan. The lake is surrounded by various vegetation and it consists of various water animals, such as fishes and shrimps. During winter times, the lake area become the place for migratory birds.
