The Kent District Library is a public library system located in Kent County, Michigan. With twenty branch locations and an annual circulation of more than 8.2 million items ''(2016 circulation data)'', the Kent District Library is one of the largest and busiest library systems in all of Michigan. The KDL Service Center, the library system headquarters, are in Plainfield Township, near the Comstock Park CDP. History The beginnings of the library are in 1927 as a library extension work project of the Kent County Federation of Women's Clubs. The Kent County Library Association was established in 1936 and functioned as a department of Kent County until 1994 when it became Kent District Library. Kent County is located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the county had a population of 657,974, making it the fourth most populous county in Michigan, and the largest outside of the Detroit area. Its county seat is Grand Rapids. Walker is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 23,537 at the 2010 census. Walker was originally organized as Walker Township in 1837 and later incorporated as a city in 1962. Spencer Township, Michigan
Spencer Township is a civil township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,960 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is located in northeast Kent County about northeast of the city of Grand Rapids. History The area was first settled as early as 1846 by Cyrus Thomas. In 1855, Thomas Spencer settled in the area and founded the community of Spencer Mills.
