Kenric
Kenric was established in 1965 and is made up of a network of social groups for lesbians throughout the United Kingdom. Members are of all ages, although mainly due to the long-running nature of the network it is most popular with women over 30 years old. It is often the only lesbian social outlet in areas where there is not much visible gay and lesbian presence. Members Throughout the country the local groups are managed by a network volunteers, who organise discos, club nights, walks, reading groups, golf tournaments, discussion groups and other such events to suit the locality. These women are from all walks of life, professions, ages and social backgrounds. Members of the network keep in touch via a national monthly magazine, as well as regional newsletters. Minorities Research Group
The Minorities Research Group (MRG) (est. 1963)p.96 From the Closet to the Screen – Jill Gardiner was the first organisation to openly advocate the interests of lesbians in the United Kingdom. It was founded by four women who got together in response to an article that was published in the magazine ''Twentieth Century''. Lesbians
A lesbian is a homosexual woman or girl. The word is also used for women in relation to their sexual identity or sexual behavior, regardless of sexual orientation, or as an adjective to characterize or associate nouns with female homosexuality or same-sex attraction. Relatively little in history was documented to describe female homosexuality, though the earliest mentions date to at least the 500s BC. ''Arena Three'' was a British monthly publication founded by Esme Langley and Diana Chapman in 1964. It was written by and for lesbians and published by the Minorities Research Group (MRG) from 1964 to 1971. History ''Arena Three'' came out of a need for a lesbian-specific magazine that could encourage MRG membership outside of London. The name was chosen for its neutrality and to not arouse suspicion of the nature of its contents. The first issue of ''Arena Three'' was published in the spring of 1964 and quickly grew in readership. By July 1965 it had over 600 members. Due to concerns with public morality laws, Arena Three was not sold to the general public and instead depended on revenue from private subscriptions. Chelsea is an area in West London, England, due south-west of Kilometre zero#Great Britain, Charing Cross by approximately . The Eastbourne Open (also known as Eastbourne International, formerly Rothesay) is a tennis tournament on the WTA Tour and the ATP Tour held at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, Eastbourne, United Kingdom. Held since 1974, it is classified as an ATP Tour 250 series on the ATP Tour and a WTA 250 series on the WTA Tour (downgraded from WTA 500 in 2025).
