Kenneth Stevenson (politician)
Kenneth Stevenson (born ) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and engineer who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Airdrie and Shotts since 2024. Early life and career Stevenson studied engineering at Calderhead High School in Shotts from 1975 to 1980. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Open University. Stevenson has worked as an engineer at companies including BAE Systems, Hyster and Terex. He became an engineering lecturer at Anniesland College in 2006, which later merged with Glasgow Clyde College. Political career Stevenson was elected as a Member of North Lanarkshire Council for Fortissat in 2017 and re-elected in 2022. As a councillor, he served as convener of the Communities Committee and Community Safety Partnership Forum from 2022 to 2024. He resigned from the Council in August 2024. 2017 North Lanarkshire Council Election
2017 Elections to North Lanarkshire Council were held on 4 May 2017, on the same day as the 31 other local authorities in Scotland. The election utilised twenty-one wards with 77 Councillors being elected. This represented an increase of 7 seats and 1 additional ward when compared to 2012. Each ward elected either 3 or 4 members, using the STV electoral system. The election saw the Scottish National Party overtake Labour as the largest party on the council. Despite the SNP winning the most seats and most votes, North Lanarkshire was run by a Labour administration supported by the Scottish Conservatives. Pamela Ann Catherine Nash (born 24 June 1984) is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Motherwell, Wishaw and Carluke since 2024. She previously served as Chief Executive of Scotland in Union, a campaign group launched in March 2015 to help keep Scotland within the United Kingdom. Between 2010 and 2015 she was the Labour MP for Airdrie and Shotts.
