Kennedy Avenue () is a avenue in Istanbul, Turkey that travels southwest from Sirkeci district to Bakırköy District and most importantly to the Atatürk Airport. The avenue is named for the 35th U.S. President, John F. Kennedy. Route The course of the road roughly follows the old Sea Walls of the city. After starting next to Sirkeci station in central Istanbul, Kennedy Avenue runs eastwards along the south side of the Golden Horn near its mouth. The road then turns south at Sarayburnu and winds its way along the east side of the centre of Istanbul, between the Topkapi Palace and the Strait of Bosphorous. After passing the Ahırkapı Feneri lighthouse and running near the Hagia Sophia Mosque and the Boukoleon Palace, the road swings westwards towards west Istanbul and the airport, passing Little Hagia Sophia, the headquarters of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople and the large harbour in Yenikapi. Fatih () is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 15 km2, and its population is 368,227 (2022). It is home to almost all of the provincial authorities (including the mayor's office, police headquarters, metropolitan municipality and tax office) but not the courthouse. It encompasses the historical peninsula, coinciding with old Constantinople. In 2009, the district of Eminönü, which had been a separate municipality located at the tip of the peninsula, was once again remerged into Fatih because of its small population. The T6 Sirkeci–Kazlıçeşme Tramway Line or U3 Sirkeci–Kazlıçeşme Rail Line () is a commuter rail line that operates between the Sirkeci Terminal and Kazlıçeşme railway station, Kazlıçeşme Station. The T6 line uses approximately of track previously used by the Istanbul–Pythion railway, Istanbul Sirkeci-Pythio Railway and Istanbul suburban closed since August 12, 2013 as part of construction of the Marmaray, running on refurbished tracks through Sirkeci and Kazlıçeşme. The line currently uses repainted TCDD E32000 units used on the Marmaray line, but is expected to have modernized nostalgic tram vehicles, although when these nostalgic tram vehicles will be put into operation remains unclear. İstanbul-Halkalı Line
The Istanbul suburban railway, locally referred to as B1 (), was an important rail line in Istanbul, Turkey. It was operated by the Turkish State Railways and was one of Istanbul's two commuter rail lines (the other being the Haydarpaşa suburban). Carrying an average of 22,200 passengers daily, it was the second-busiest commuter railway in Turkey, after the Haydarpaşa suburban. The Istanbul Commuter Railway is a historical line, being the first rail line to be electrified and being the first commuter railway in Turkey. Since it opened on December 4, 1955, the E8000 series have been in operation. In the 1970s, the E14000 series came into service and in 2010 the new EUROTEM built E23000 series began service. Cankurtaran Railway Station
Cankurtaran is a railway station on the Istanbul suburban, in Istanbul, Turkey. It is located in the neighborhood of Cankurtaran in the historic peninsula of İstanbul. The station is located on Şadırvan Street. Cankurtaran is just a block north of Kennedy Boulevard, along with the shoreline and a few blocks south of the Hagia Sophia and the Imperial Gate to the Topkapı Palace. The station was built in 1955 by the Turkish State Railways to be used by commuter trains operating between Sirkeci and Halkalı. Cankurtaran is located from Sirkeci Terminal. Cankurtaran was indefinitely closed in 2013 due to the rehabilitation and construction of the new Marmaray line. Rauf Orbay
Hüseyin Rauf Orbay (27 July 1881 – 16 July 1964) was a Turkish naval officer, statesman and diplomat of Abkhaz origin. During the Italo–Turkish and Balkan Wars he was known as the Hero of '' Hamidiye'' for his exploits as captain of the eponymous cruiser. Orbay briefly served as Minister of Navy in October 1918, and signed the Armistice of Mudros on behalf of the Ottoman Empire. He played an important role in the Turkish War of Independence, during which he served as the prime minister of the Ankara government between 12 July 1922 and 4 August 1923. During the Republican period he was one of the founders of the Progressive Republican Party. He was put on trial for his involvement in an alleged assassination attempt against Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and sentenced to ten years in prison.
