Kendra Harrison
Kendra "Keni" Harrison (born September 18, 1992) is an American hurdler. Harrison held the world record in the women's 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.20 seconds, set on July 22, 2016 at the London Müller Anniversary Games, breaking the previous world record of 12.21 seconds achieved nearly 28 years earlier by Bulgarian athlete Yordanka Donkova. In college, she competed for the University of Kentucky Wildcats and in 2015 she won NCAA championship titles both indoors and outdoors. She was runner-up in the 100 m hurdles at the 2015 USA Outdoor Championships; at the 2016 Olympic Trials she placed sixth because she tripped, and missed qualifying for the Olympics. Between the US trials and the Olympic Games, she broke the 28 year-old world record. 2018 IAAF Continental Cup
The 2018 IAAF Continental Cup is an international track and field sporting event that was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on 8–9 September 2018. It is the third edition of the IAAF Continental Cup since the name and format was changed from the IAAF World Cup. Format The four teams competing in the event were Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. The two-day competition comprised a programme of 20 track and field events for men and women, giving a total of 40 events. Each team shall enter two athletes in each event, except for relays where one team competed, with a maximum of one athlete from each country per event. IAAF Continental Cup
The IAAF Continental Cup was an international track and field competition organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The event was proposed by IAAF former President Primo Nebiolo and was first held in 1977 as the IAAF World Cup. The event was initially held every two years, but following the establishment of the World Athletics Championships it moved to a quadrennial basis. The 1989 edition was held the same year as the World Indoor Championships, then moved to the even-year between the Summer Olympics, ensuring the sport of athletics had a global competition in all years. 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's 60 Metres Hurdles
The women's 60 metres hurdles at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on 2 and 3 March 2018. Summary Kendra Harrison came into these championships as the favorite based on her outdoor world record, but so far world championship medals have evaded her. She dominated her way through the rounds. In the final, Christina Manning got the best start along with Devynne Charlton, but Harrison quickly made up ground. By the second hurdle, she had a foot (30 cm) lead, over the two, with Charlton fading from contention after that, while Sharika Nelvis and Isabelle Pedersen were the next back by the third hurdle. Nadine Visser pulled even with Pedersen still 2 feet behind Nelvis. Out front, Harrison had a metre lead over Manning. 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 17th IAAF World Indoor Championships was held from 1 to 4 March 2018 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This was the city's second hosting of the event as it previously did so in 2003 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2003. Bidding process Birmingham bid for the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships as well as the 2018 event. Portland was selected unanimously to host the 2016 event with Birmingham being the only other bidder. With Portland then out of the running for the 2018 event Birmingham was selected as the host of the 2018 event. The reason Portland was selected for 2016 and Birmingham for 2018 is that the IAAF wanted more time between events in the UK with London hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics as well as the 2017 World Championships in Athletics along with Cardiff hosting the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. IAAF World Indoor Championships
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. They have been held every two years except for when they were held in consecutive years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate the need for them to be held in alternate years to the outdoor World Athletics Championships in the future, and in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The women's 100 metres hurdles at the 2023 World Athletics Championships was held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest from 22 to 24 August 2023. Summary In the first round, former world record holder Kendra Harrison ran 12.24, equalling her own #4 performance in history, leaving her with three of the top 5 races ever.
