Kendall Art Center
The Kendall Art Center is an arts center in Kendall, Miami-Dade County, Florida in the United States. It houses the Rodriguez Collection, owned by the Cuban-born American businessman Leonardo Rodríguez and his family. History The center was opened in 2016, and has shown several personal and collective exhibitions by emerging and established artists. The Rodriguez Collection is a Cuban contemporary art collection owned by Rodriguez and his family. Rodriguez began buying and selling works of art during the late 20th century, and established his permanent collection in 1994. The collection aims to reflect significant artistic developments in contemporary Cuban art, as well as its development in the United States and abroad. Carlos Rodríguez Cárdenas
Carlos Rodríguez Cárdenas is a Cuban painter. Biography Rodríguez Cárdenas was born in 1962 in Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, and completed his arts studies in 1983 at Havana’s Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA). He formed part of the René Portocarrero workshop, where he began to make a name for himself in serigraphy, drawing and painting. He became a key figure in the resurgence of criticism and of the arts movement at the time. His participation played a decisive role in the birth of the provisional group. Pedro A. Vizcaíno Martínez (born October 11, 1966, Havana, Cuba), is a Cuban-born American visual artist based in Miami, Florida. René Portocarrero (born Havana, 24 February 1912; died Havana, 7 April 1985) was a Cuban artist recognised internationally for his achievements. Raúl Corrales Forno
Raúl Corrales Fornos (January 29, 1925 – April 15, 2006) was a Cuban photographer. Since 1961 he was member of the Photography Section of the Union de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC). Early life Corrales was born to a poor family in Ciego de Ávila, in rural Cuba and moved to Havana as a child. He worked as a newspaper vendor, a shoeshine boy and a janitor, but his hobby of photography grew more and more serious. Politics In the 1950s Corrales joined the Partido Socialista Popular (Cuba), Partido Socialista Popular and worked as a photographer for the Party's newspaper. He specialized in going to the remote parts of Cuba to photograph the everyday lives of poor peasants and workers. Hugo Consuegra
Hugo Consuegra (born Hugo Consuegra Sosa October 26, 1929 in Havana, Cuba – January 24th 2003 in New York City, New York) was a Cuban-born artist and architect who, in 1953, became one of the founding members of Los Once (The Eleven), a group of young abstract expressionist artists which included the core members Guido Llinás, Raul Martinez, Tomás Oliva and Antonio Vidal. The group broke away from the representational style prevalent at the time in Cuba and produced its largest volume of work between 1953 and 1955.
