Ken Richardson (ice Hockey)
Kenneth William Richardson (born April 12, 1951) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Early life and education Richardson was born in North Bay, Ontario. He is a graduate of Widdifield Secondary School. After retiring from the NHL in 1980, Richardson earned his Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University. Career Richardson first signed with the Columbus Owls of the International Hockey League in 1973. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. Widdifield Secondary School
Widdifield Secondary School (WSS) was a high school located on Ski Club Road in North Bay, Ontario. It was a member of the Near North District School Board. Overview Widdifield's motto was "Mens Quaerens in Corpore Sano," loosely meaning "an inquiring mind in a sound body." Alumni are known as the Widdifield Wildcats, and the school colours were red and royal blue. The school was founded in 1965. The Peterborough Petes are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League. The team has played at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, since 1956, and is the oldest continuously operating team in the league.
