Ken Ploen
Kenneth Ploen (June 3, 1935 – February 13, 2024) was an American professional gridiron football, football player who was a star quarterback and safety for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Lost Nation, Iowa native played the same positions in college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes football, Iowa Hawkeyes approximately 60 minutes from his birthplace. In September 2009, Ploen was recognized in a vote of the fans and by the Canadian Football Hall of Fame as the Most Outstanding CFL Player of the 1960s. Lost Nation is a city in Clinton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 434 at the time of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History The area which would later formally become Lost Nation was known by that name as early as 1855, though the origin of the name is unknown. Lost Nation was platted in 1872 and became an incorporated community in July 1903. A train station was established along the Sabula, Ackley and Dakota railroad in 1871. Harry Peter "Bud" Grant Jr. (May 20, 1927 – March 11, 2023) was an American professional football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). Grant was head coach of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings for 18 seasons; he was the team's second (1967–83) and fourth (1985) head coach, leading them to four Super Bowl appearances, 11 division titles, one league championship and three National Football Conference championships. Before coaching the Vikings, he was the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for 10 seasons, winning the Grey Cup four times. Grant attended the University of Minnesota and was a three-sport athlete, in football, basketball, and baseball. The 1957 Rose Bowl was the 43rd edition of the college football bowl game, played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Tuesday, January 1. The third- ranked Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference defeated the No. 10 Oregon State Beavers of the Pacific Coast Conference by a score of 35–19, in a rematch of a regular season contest in early October at Iowa City, where the home team rallied to win, 14–13. The Canadian Football Hall of Fame (CFHOF) is a not-for-profit corporation, located in Hamilton, Ontario, that celebrates achievements in Canadian football. It is maintained by the Canadian Football League (CFL). It includes displays about the CFL, Canadian Interuniversity Sport football, Canadian university football and Canadian Junior Football League, Canadian junior football history. Warren Moon
Harold Warren Moon (born November 18, 1956) is an American former professional Gridiron football, football player who was a quarterback for 23 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He spent most of his career with the NFL's Houston Oilers and the CFL's Edmonton Elks, Edmonton Eskimos. Moon also played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City Chiefs. He is considered one of the greatest undrafted players in NFL history.
