Kenneth D. Lewis (born April 9, 1947) is the former CEO, president, and chairman of Bank of America, currently the second largest bank in the United States and twelfth largest by total assets in the world. While CEO of Bank of America, Lewis was noted for purchasing the failing companies Countrywide Financial and Merrill Lynch, resulting in large losses for the bank and necessitating financial assistance from the federal government. On September 30, 2009, Bank of America confirmed that Lewis would be retiring by the end of the year. Lewis was replaced by Brian Moynihan as president and CEO and Walter Massey as chairman of the board. Early life and career Lewis grew up in Walnut Grove, Mississippi until age 5, then moved to Heidelberg, Germany. His father was in the Army. Ken Lewis (songwriter)
Kenneth Alan James Hawker (3 December 1940 – 2 August 2015) known as Ken Lewis, was an English singer, songwriter and record producer. He is considered one of the more successful songwriters of the 1960s as a result of his collaborations with John Carter. His biggest success was "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat", which was a 1965 US number 2 hit single for Herman's Hermits. Life and career Early life Kenneth Alan James Hawker was born in Small Heath, Birmingham, England. While still at primary school, Lewis met his future songwriting partner John Shakespeare. They formed a skiffle band in the 1950s called LVI, when they began writing songs together. In 1960 the duo went to London, and presented themselves under their songwriting pseudonyms John Carter and Ken Lewis. Terry Kennedy became their manager and convinced them to start their own band as an outlet for their songs. Kenneth Humphrey Lewis (born 10 November 1928) is a former Welsh cricketer who played first-class cricket for Glamorgan from 1950 to 1956. Lewis was a fast bowler from Newtown in Montgomeryshire whose career was hampered by injury. He was one of a family of five sons and five daughters; his father was a postman. While serving in the Royal Artillery during his national service in the late 1940s, Lewis took wickets regularly for services teams, and was signed by Glamorgan in 1950. He appeared in 36 first-class matches over seven seasons before a serious leg injury ended his career in 1956. Sir Kenneth Lewis (1 July 1916 – 2 July 1997) was a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. He was Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom for Rutland and Stamford from 1959 to 1983, and following boundary changes for Stamford and Spalding from 1983 to 1987. Life Son of Agnes and William Lewis, Kenneth Lewis was born and educated in Jarrow, County Durham, and attended the University of Edinburgh. He was a Labour and Personnel Executive with shipbuilders Hawthorn Leslie and Company of Hebburn, and afterwards with the County of London Electricity Supply Company.
