Ken Dashow
Ken Dashow (born May 1, 1958) is a writer, performer and director. He is a disc jockey at New York City's WAXQ "Q104.3" classic rock radio station. He is also voicetracked to Classic Rock WBGG-FM "Big 105.9" in Miami, WPYX PYX106, 106.5 in Albany, NY, WNNJ 103.7 in Newton, NJ, and WEGR Rock 103, 102.7 FM in Memphis. Brooklyn born and raised, he has spent the last 30 years in New York radio. He has written several plays, a collection of which was published by Dramatists Play Service entitled ''Dashow Must Go On'', and ''Rock is Dead'' which was produced Off-Broadway at the SoHo Playhouse. His screenplays ''The Naked Detective'' and ''Desire'' have become cult classics. WAXQ (104.3 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to New York, New York. It airs a classic rock format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. WAXQ's studios are at 125 West 55th Street in Midtown Manhattan. DJs heard on WAXQ include radio veterans Carol Miller and Jim Kerr. The station's transmitter is located at the Empire State Building. History WFDR (1949–1952) A station signed on the air on the 104.3 frequency in 1949. Its call sign was WFDR, a non-profit FM station owned by the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. WRCN-FM (103.9 MHz) is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk radio format, licensed to Riverhead, New York and serving eastern Long Island. The station is owned by JVC Media LLC with studios located inside of Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, New York, and transmitter located in Manorville, New York. History The station first went on the air in 1962 as WAPC-FM. In 1967 the call letters were changed to WHRF-FM, and in 1972 to the current WRCN-FM.
