Ken Buttrey
Aaron Kenneth Buttrey (April 1, 1945 – September 12, 2004) was an American drummer and arranger. According to CMT, he was "one of the most influential session musicians in Nashville history." Buttrey was born in Nashville, Tennessee, became a professional musician at age 11 and went on his first world tour at the age of 14 with Chet Atkins. He first worked with Charlie McCoy and went on to play with two of his own groups, Barefoot Jerry and Area Code 615. Area Code 615 was best known for its song "Stone Fox Chase", which was the theme song for the BBC music programme ''The Old Grey Whistle Test'' in the 1970s. Buttrey also played in the group Rig. However, he was best known as a session player and worked with a number of well-known musicians including Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young. A drummer is a percussionist who creates music using drums. Most contemporary western music ensemble, bands that play Rock music, rock, Pop music, pop, jazz, or Contemporary R&B, R&B music include a drummer for purposes including timekeeping and embellishing the musical timbre. ''Self Portrait'' is the tenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. It was released on June 8, 1970, through Columbia Records. The album was produced by Bob Johnston and was Dylan's second double album, after '' Blonde on Blonde'' (1966). The record is compiled of cover songs, live recordings, and new originals, while the arrangements and vocal performances continue in the country vein of the preceding '' Nashville Skyline'' (1969). ''Self Portrait'' was released to negative reviews and confusion from critics and fans alike. Criticism was directed at the album's production, performances, and the lack of new material. Kris Kristofferson
Kristoffer Kristofferson (June 22, 1936 – September 28, 2024) was an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He was a pioneering figure in the outlaw country movement of the 1970s, moving away from the polished Nashville sound and toward a more raw, introspective style. Some of his most famous songs include "Me and Bobby McGee", "For the Good Times (song), For the Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", and "Help Me Make It Through the Night", all of which became hits for other artists. Leo Kottke
Leo Kottke (born September 11, 1945) is an American acoustic guitarist. He is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies. He has overcome a series of personal obstacles, including partial loss of hearing and a nearly career-ending bout with tendon damage in his right hand, to emerge as a widely recognized master of his instrument. He resides in the Minneapolis area with his family. Focusing primarily on instrumental composition and playing, Kottke also sings sporadically, in an unconventional yet expressive baritone described by himself as sounding like "geese farts on a muggy day". Al Kooper
Al Kooper (born Alan Peter Kuperschmidt; February 5, 1944) is an American songwriter, record producer, and musician. Throughout much of the 1960s and 1970s he was a prolific studio musician, including playing organ on the Bob Dylan song " Like a Rolling Stone", French horn and piano on the Rolling Stones song " You Can't Always Get What You Want", and lead guitar on Rita Coolidge's " The Lady's Not for Sale". He also formed and named Blood, Sweat & Tears, though he did not stay with the group long enough to share in its subsequent popularity. ''Tuscaloosa'' is a live album by Canadian-American musician Neil Young, released on June 7, 2019, on American record label Reprise Records. It is Volume 04 in the Performance Series of Neil Young Archives. The album features recordings from the February 5, 1973, concert in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which was part of Young's ''Time Fades Away'' tour with his backing band The Stray Gators. Unlike the album ''Time Fades Away'', which was compiled from later tour dates, the lineup features drummer Kenny Buttrey (who was later replaced by Johnny Barbata). The album doesn't feature the whole concert, as not all the songs were captured to tape, while " The Loner" and "On the Way Home" were not included for various reasons ("The Loner" eventually was made available for streaming for Archives subscribers in 2020).
