Kelvin De Ruiter
Kelvin de Ruiter is a competitive strongman from the Netherlands and is a four-time Strongest Man of the Netherlands champion. Having competed in 43 International strongman competitions and winning 8 of them, de Ruiter is among the Strongman#Modern Strongmen, 50 most decorated strongmen of all time. A carpenter by profession, he first noticed his talent for lifting heavy objects while working part time in a local breaker's yard. After training initially with his father, de Ruiter was mentored by former World’s Strongest Man bronze medalist Wout Zijlstra. Having competed prolifically in the Strongman Champions League and known for his prowess in vehicle pulling, de Ruiter is a three-time World Truck Pull Champion. He is also the Vehicle pull#Notable Strongmen, third greatest vehicle puller of all time behind Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and Žydrūnas Savickas. World's Strongest Viking
World's Strongest Viking was an annual international Strongman competition organized by Strongman Champions League and held for eight consecutive years from 2014 to 2021 with participation of top strongman athletes in the world. It was held under perilous weather conditions in winter, testing the athletes to their limits. The roots of the competition goes back to the Nordic Strongman Championships which was continued until 2013 with participation of athletes from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. In 2014, Giants Live upscaled it to global level, renaming the competition to 'World's Strongest Viking'. In 2015, Strongman Champions League took over. The competition was held every January in Vinstra, Norway under freezing weather conditions and with vintage Viking events. World’s Strongest Man
The World's Strongest Man is an international strongman competition held every year. Organized by American event management company IMG (company), IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor (company), Endeavor, it is broadcast in the US during summers and in the UK around the end of December each year. Biography Zijlstra was born in Wolsum, Friesland. He managed his first podium finish at the Strongest man of the Netherlands in 1991 where he finished second after Ted van der Parre. Vehicle Pull
Vehicle pull is a Strongman event featured in World’s Strongest Man and other similar competitions which requires competitors to pull extremely heavy trucks, buses, tanks, trains or aeroplanes while being attached to a harness that is connected to the vehicle. The heavier the vehicle is, a rope is provided for them to pull on. The person who completes the course in the fastest time or covers the most distance is declared the winner. History In 1920s, farmers in Bowling Green, Missouri and Vaughnsville, Ohio began hitching their field tractors to weighted sleds and roared down a track to see who could pull it the farthest, which gathered a lot of spectators.
