John Westley Rogers Jr. (born December 16, 1940) is an American politician from the state of Alabama. A member of the Democratic Party, Rogers served in the Alabama House of Representatives, representing the 52nd district. Early life Rogers is from Birmingham, Alabama. He has a bachelor's degree from Tennessee State University, a master's degree from the University of Alabama, and an associate's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Political career Rogers was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1982. In 1988 he joined an effort to remove the Confederate flag from the Alabama Capitol building. Rogers personally opposes abortion but represented a district that supported abortion rights, and voted accordingly.
