Kelkheim (), officially "Kelkheim (Taunus)", is a town in the Main-Taunus district in Hesse, Germany, close to Germany's financial center Frankfurt/Main. Geography Location Located on the southwestern slopes of the Taunus mountains, Kelkheim is noted for its attractive scenery. Kelkheim is located approximately 10 km to the west of Frankfurt. Wiesbaden, the state capital of Hesse, is about 25 km away, while Mainz, the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, is about 30 km away. The Königstein Railway (''Königsteiner Bahn'') is a 1902 opened, single-track and non-electrified secondary railway line that connects the town of Königstein im Taunus with the city of Frankfurt am Main on the southern edge of the Taunus in the German state of Hesse. The Regionalbahn line, which was also called the #K-Bahn, K-Bahn from 1989 to 1995, now runs from Koenigstein via Frankfurt-Höchst station as timetable route 646 to Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof. Kelkheim Station
Kelkheim station is the most important station on the Königstein Railway from Höchst to Königstein on the western edge of Frankfurt am Main in the German state of Hesse. It is the location of the scheduled train crossings on the single track line. It is the middle one of three stations in the town of Kelkheim and serves the districts of Kelkheim-Mitte and Fischbach. History When planning the line, a joint station was originally planned for Kelkheim and Münster, midway between the two towns. The municipality of Fischbach however, also requested access to the railway and threatened to deny the railway company the right to build the railway though its territory towards Hornau. Fischbach (, ) is a , one of six administrative subdivisions, of the town of Kelkheim in the Main-Taunus district of Germany. It is situated at the western border of Frankfurt am Main in the Taunus hills. Fischbach is a middle-class town and has about 5,900 inhabitants.
