Kelby Ray
The Cadillac Three, originally known as The Cadillac Black, is an American rock band consisting of Jaren Johnston (lead vocals, guitar), Kelby Ray (lap steel guitar, bass guitar, vocals), and Neil Mason (drums, vocals). All three members were originally in the band American Bang. The group has released three albums through Big Machine Records, and has charted three singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. In addition to their own work, Johnston has written singles for Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Steven Tyler, Dallas Smith, and Jake Owen. History Before its foundation, all three members were in the group American Bang, which also featured Ben Brown as a fourth member; Mason and Brown had been in the band Llama before that. "Southern Girl" is a song written by Jaren Johnston, Rodney Clawson, and Lee Thomas Miller and recorded by American country music artist Tim McGraw. It was released in July 2013 as the fourth single from McGraw's album ''Two Lanes of Freedom''. Content The song is about girls from the south and how the narrator finds them attractive. Critical reception Billy Dukes of ''Taste of Country'' gave the song 4.5 stars out of 5, saying that " tsoverall feel is one that’s repeated each summer, but few have brought it back as effortlessly as McGraw in recent years." ''The Cadillac Three'' (originally known as ''The Cadillac Black'') is the debut studio album by American country rock band The Cadillac Three, initially released on April 17, 2012 via Nobody Buys Records. Due to the band's decision to change their name and signing to major label Big Machine Records, the album has been reissued several times (see the various different covers). It was reissued on the Big Machine label on May 7, 2013. In Europe, the album was released as ''Tennessee Mojo'' with bonus tracks.
