Keith Taylor (safety)
Keith Gerard Taylor (born December 21, 1964) is an American former professional American football, football Safety (gridiron football position), safety in the National Football League (NFL) for the Indianapolis Colts, the New Orleans Saints, and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at the University of Illinois and was selected in the fifth round of the 1988 NFL draft. Taylor played high school football at Pennsauken High School in New Jersey and is the younger brother of John Taylor (American football), John Taylor who also played in the NFL as a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. Safety (S), historically known as a safetyman, is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety (FS) and the strong safety (SS). Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field.
